also I think movies are way to vague to stand on their own as philosophical works, at least unless they have anime tier retarded amount of exposition. I see them mostly as exploratory devices that need to be elaborated upon in writing.

>Philosophical discussion can go on either Veeky Forums or Veeky Forums, but those discussions of philosophy that take place on Veeky Forums should be based around specific philosophical works to which posters can refer.

If somebody here should hang themselves it's you

Svankmajer is Czech and Tarr is Hungarian you absolute tard

movies are not a great medium for getting philosophical ideas like what you probably mean across. that being said, bergman (in particular seventh seal) is famous for this. almost universally, you will only see attempts at it by non-american directors. check out robert bresson

Tarr is Hungarian, man. Great director though.

Everyone there is correct except Malick with the exception of Days of Heaven.

> Tarr
> Svankmajer
> Russian

I mean, they're great and all, but they're not Russian, mate.

His early films are crap tier compared to The Thin Red Line, The New World and The Tree of Life.
Even if you are not into his Christian-existentialismesque style you have to give him credit for his films from artistic and philosophic standpoints.
Btw he is literally a philosophy professor.
