(Also, unironically Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions)

Not him but isn't AA literally just
>ayy just believe in jesus xDD

Part of it, but you can abstract Jesus out of it and just make it more of a higher power. That part is kind of besides the point though - the patterns of behavior and support network that AA encourages/provides can be more helpful in changing behavior than the spirituality.

Haha, fuck that

Would you recommend Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions over The Big Book

I like 12&12 better, but there are fewer groups that use 12&12 than Big Book these days. If you have a real alcohol problem that's impacting your life, do Big Book so you can find a group, which will help better than just reading alone.

If you're not so badly off but just want a lifestyle change (i.e. you drink but your life isn't in ruins or in danger of being ruined), I'd go for 12&12. This is solely based on the ease of finding a group though..

>overcoming alcoholism
Don't try to overcome your alcoholism, embrace it!

Depends on where you live. Most of the people in my area don't ascribe to that. I'd say we have more people taking things from Buddhism than anything else around here.

Under the Volcano

Stop reading, start lifting.

I already lift

Stop drinking.

The Last Weekend

>Stop being addicted

Any book written by Russians.

No, not drinking should suffice.

Hahahahaha How The Fuck Is Alcoholism Real Hahahaha Nigga Just Walk Away From The Bottle Like Nigga Close Your Fridge Hahaha

I especially recommend Moscow to the End of the Line

You forgot to tell OP that he should just be himself, fellow redditor

Sorry, I forgot. :(

The culture of AA is anti-intellectual. Don't come around their meetings with yer fancy words and chin stroking--they won't take kindly.

>Any Russian has ever overcome alcoholism

Like this board, AA helps you to learn how to use small words to work with the mentally retarded while humbly pursuing your personal intellectual goals

Also NA 12 and 12 / basic text if you're struggling with other drugs and don't feel like being inundated by the G word. Been clean 3 years and change, good luck.

Big book and basic text both contain first hand accounts of people who have overcome their problems so if you like book/stories you might find the narratives helpful
