on ezra pound- "lousy poet and depraved pseudo intellectual"

> on ezra pound- "lousy poet and depraved pseudo intellectual"

>on the waste land- "certainly the most overrated poem in the Anglo American canon"

in the essay in which the latter quote appears
he even writes (incorrectly, obviously) that ts eliot was a fascist.

Why was he so fucking retarded when it came to literature?

>lousy poet and depraved pseudo intellectual
takes 1 to know 1 buddy

His paragon of literature was Orwell. Need I say more?

this is a really good photo of camus

he was a fedora atheist user there's no saving him

Christopher just about managed to have the shittiest opinion on almost every matter. It's quite impressive actually in a way.

he even hated Mother Teresa. Hitchens was just an embittered Marxist looking for an excuse to get angry at anything

He wasn't a good Marxist when he was one. I don't think I remember him actually ever understanding any parts of Marx, he just complained about "muh Stalinism"

The Wasteland is shit.
Four Quartets and the Journey of the Magi are good.

>implying pound and eliot are worthwhile
you should be reading stevens anyway. the waste land is indeed overrated as fuck. read something like notes toward a supreme fiction if you want real modernist poetry

>he even hated Mother Teresa
Didn't he have good reasons to?

It will be the awakening of the lower castes, and we shall accelerate to the next economic system

No, he completely stripped out context for his "take down".

Are you implying you should only read one or the other?

>The Waste Land
Overrated in Eliot's canon compared to Four Quartets? Sure. Overrated in Anglophone literature? Suck on a pistol.

No he didn’t. She was a fraudster masquerading as a moral paragon who was in bed financially with an array of horrible people.

Also, he stuck pretty firmly to his Marxist principles but admitted towards the end of his life that his Trotskyist coloured version of socialism eroded somewhat. I hate that he’s known as a figurehead for the new-atheist movement when his essays and polemics are fantastic to read.
