Sexual Personae

What's Veeky Forumss opinion on this book and superstar feminist art critic Camille Paglia?

SJWs are bad mmkay, decadence is always a sign of civilization's imminent collapse mmkay

wow turns out decadance is great but where to practise outside disco clubs??

I like the book and Paglia in general gives a healthy reading of culture imho

more meme than woman

Pretty good as an introduction.

i'm at the faerie queene chapter, ask again later

>the sexual revolution was about the freedom to risk rape

What did she mean by this?

that if women want to be equal to men they must risk the same dangers a men

Young women before the sexual revolution were often escorted, both to protect them from outsiders but also to ensure their chastity. If you drop the escort that protects you from both you are less protected from either

but...why?

not the same dangers per se, but that women would have to accept the fact that, for instance, rape was a real possibly if they didn't want to remain "kept" and infantilized

>decadence is always a sign of civilization's imminent collapse mmkay
true btw

reminder that only women and their providers claim that ''rape'' exists

reminder that if you cannot consent, then you cannot be raped

reminder that liberals still have no method to determine whether somebody has what they call ''free will''

I haven't read it - been considering it though. Camille is brilliant, however, I do not understand how she can consider herself transgender while holding the views she does (which is why I thought I might read sexual personae - hoping for some clarity on her point of view).

How do you not understand something so obvious? You shouldn't be on this board yet.

What you should be doing is reading more, specifically philosophy, and studying logic (starting with simple logic puzzles).

Return when you've digested enough material to need no assistance unriddling the unconcealed.

...

misogynist sexist phallogocentrist

How did rape happen at all then? It's such a dumb argument to make. Paglia is a harpy who has a rape fantasy desu desu.

>decadence
>civilization's imminent collapse
>implying it's a bad thing

Butthurt feminazi detected. Did you even read any of her works?

“Gay men are guardians of the masculine impulse. To have anonymous sex in a dark alleyway is to pay homage to the dream of male freedom. The unknown stranger is a wandering pagan god. The altar, as in pre-history, is anywhere you kneel.”

why does this dumb bitch hate foucault?

Because she hates all faggots who didn't man up and stoically die for their transgressions against Nature, and instead bitched and moaned and supported Democrats.

She sees political squabbles as subversion of real paradigm shifts. Foucault is truly rage-inducing in that regard, burying his immense talent on a biblical scale

Not the user you're replying to, but I would like to see this in context. As it stands, it looks absolutely moronic. Is it an excerpt from Sexual Personae?

>As it stands, it looks absolutely moronic

Wow, such deep commentary.

I think it's from vamps and tramps, unless I'm forgetting something.

She was pretty interesting when she talked with Jordan Peterson but 60% of her were were "ok".

Not him but I mean, if you think a faggot giving a blowie is someone following or adhering to a high, especially masculine, ideal simply because some idiot wrote it that way you have much to learn.

>deep commentary

Do you know where you are? Do you expect an essay, fuckwit?
