Crying Lot is overrated, it's only assigned in universities because it's probably the only book of his you could force undergrads read. His contemporary novels aren't archetypal pomo, and he's really only taught to portray "postmodern literature". I'm gonna revisit TCL49 after I read the tragedians.

It's just one of those books I hate to read but love talking about. I love the Rose too, even though I think people meme it out of proportion because they've seen the movie.

I think all of pynchon's work post M&D is underrated in its own regard. I've read Inherent Vice 3 times now and have gotten so much out of it on different levels. I kinda hate to see it put as 'pynchon-lite' because its not a monolith

I tried reading Kafka on the Shore having heard about Murakami at several occasions, including this site, and holy shit that was probably the worst novel I have read in my entire life. What in the world was up with the incredibly dull retard chapters, the tranny that was basically a character so Murakami could flaunt how much he knew about bookz, and muzic, and philozophy and stuff, even though it wasn't even impressive knowledge. And the main character, not good enough to fit in a YA book, even though that's what it seemed he was trying to do. And the whole fucking a 50 year old woman, with these very descriptive, yet not aesthetic or pleasant or interesting or profound passages in the least, about cum and boners. Jesus fucking christ that book made me physically sick to my stomach

read the other two. they are even better IMO. i still love stoner
