nothing personel, john..

After a week of working together, Searle locked his office door and "went directly to Ong to grope her," according to the complaint, telling her they were “going to be lovers.” She rejected his proposal, and Searle apologized, paying her the promised $3,000. When he left for vacation the following month, Ong reported the assault to Hudin, the complaint states. Instead of reporting her allegations to upper management, “Hudin told Ong that she would protect her from Searle’s advances” and said Searle “has had sexual relationships with his students and others in the past in exchange for academic, monetary, or other benefits,” the complaint states.

When Searle returned from vacation, the workplace became “increasingly hostile and awkward,” the complaint states, as he pretended nothing had happened. Searle cut Ong’s salary in about half without explanation and continued to act inappropriately, according to the complaint. He openly watched pornography in front of her, the complaint states, and asked her to log into a “Sugar Baby, Sugar Daddy” website for him. The complaint says Searle also asked Ong to read and respond to his university emails, such as “flirtatious” correspondence with young women, “including UC Berkeley students and foreign students from Europe” who wanted to be his research assistant -- the position Ong held.

When Ong, who is Asian-American, brought up the topic of American imperialism, Searle responded “American imperialism? Oh boy, that sounds great, honey! Let’s go to bed and do that right now!” the complaint states.

There is no mind-body problem.

If ou believe the brain is the source of consciousness, and if consciousness is a feature of the brain, then let's preform a thought experiment. The awareness is supposedly attached to the brain. But what happens if we take two subjects, and slowly begin transferring their neurons from one subject to another until both brains have been replaced entirely.
The brain can not be the substance of awareness, because then there should have been a point at which the transference of matter would correspond to a transfer of awareness.

Yes, but the real problem now is how to solve the Chinese pussy thought experiment. Should it go on the back? Should it go on the front?

That's pretty amazing. Could Dennett ever do such thing? I bet he's a fucking pussy! What about Paul Churchland? I bet he masturbates and watches while Patricia fucks with younger guys like David Chalmers.

When will Saul Kripke be EXPOSED?

>To begin things there's the story about why he left Princeton and the United States for years years on charges of peeping-tom behavior. In the accounts I've heard, he was spotted on a ladder propped against an undergraduate dorm.

>Professor I know told our class how he had to pick up Kripke from the airport for a campus visit in Colorado, and while waiting for luggage, Kripke was staring at a young woman's caboose and then started to follow her (rather than stand still and wait for luggage).

>I have a friend who was assigned (for his GAship) as Kripke's "assistant" several years back. Apparently, from what I was told, and my friend isn't given to exaggeration or embellishment, what his job consisted of was preventing Kripke from doing anything inappropriate when around students and to make sure that he didn't wander off and fail to show up for classes and meetings.

Yes. Why do you ask?

...

That's the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in my whole life.

When Ong, who is a practicing psychologist, brought up the topic of the mind, Searle responded “Mental events? Oh boy, that sounds great, honey! Let’s go and put those to bed right now!” the complaint states.

Searle is a dirty property dualist and deep down he knows it.

yeah nigga, he a thug you faggot materialist

You are a retard if you think the only people who disagree with Searle are materialists. Searle publicly denies being a property dualist (and went so far as to write Why I Am Not A Property Dualist) but the fact that you agree makes me kek. Searle's fans are so poorly read they haven't even read Searle.

are you a materialist

Life truly is pain

No, reductive materialism is, at least for the moment, not a tenable position in the theory of mind. I'm open to science being able to provide a constant answer one day, but until then there's no point in using reductive materialism to explain away consciousness. Searle is a reductive materialist that shoves phenomena into the category of material, then plays word games to dance around the fact he hasn't solved the mind-body problem, he just moved it. He has no good explanation for the interaction of higher and lower states.

Im literally shaking

whats a good book thatll give me knowledge of the current state of theory of mind stuff

I am enjoying this bold new era of Chalmersposting

They just keep coming..

When Thomas Pogge came to Yale University in 2008, his hiring was heralded as a major boon to its philosophy department, which had been struggling in recent years. Professor Pogge, a renowned German-born scholar of moral philosophy and international affairs, brought to Yale impressive academic credentials, and a dose of star power.

But just two years later, Professor Pogge was accused of sexual misconduct by a recent Yale graduate named Fernanda Lopez Aguilar. Ms. Lopez alleged, among other charges, that Professor Pogge had groped her and made a series of inappropriate remarks, referring to her as “the Monica Lewinsky to my Bill Clinton.” When she brought her case to the school’s University-Wide Committee on Sexual Misconduct, Professor Pogge essentially went unpunished. Other allegations soon followed.

Several professors in the field said that Ms. Lopez’s charges should have come as no surprise to the university: As a tenured professor at Columbia University, Professor Pogge had been disciplined after similar accusations of sexual harassment — behavior Yale knew about when hiring him. At the same time, in interviews with more than a dozen professors, administrators, students and experts, many wondered whether Yale could fairly adjudicate such cases when its process relied upon school personnel who may have had a stake in maintaining the university’s reputation.

this is just bullshit because i've definitely sexually harassed a huge number of women, but i'm a nobody, so no one is even accusing me.

I demand fair accusations against me! If no one has anything to say RIGHT NOW, i demand immunity should i every acquire some fame!

After Ancient Aliens I don't trust anyone with hair like that.

Still, in John's case this gives his 'Chinese room' experiment a need for a radical new interpretation.

Yes fucks yes. Academics, especially Professors being pulled from their high horses gives me a hard-on

Wow i really like this image. Where did you find it?

Someone post the quote where he said he thought he could refute Kant claiming we don't have access to objects-inof-themselves because he could point to a desk

They would be the same person like having twins. The ship of Theseus problem in which you replace every plank is solved if you accept a fundamental aspect of the universe in that all electrons are the same, all protons are the same, and all neutrons are the same. i.e. There's no labeling of specific particles within a group. Though there are some aspect that you can say they are different. For example you can replace the electron from a water molecule with another electron and the water molecule will remain the same. It's kinda paradoxical in this aspect but it has severe repercussion. It leads to act of consumption in which you eat another living organism and break what you eat down to smaller pieces to which you use to replace your own cells.

...

There is none worth speaking about. All the major advances is in machine learning and they don't know why it works other than pattern recognition. Even then nobody has a good concept on what a pattern is.

Reductive materialism is not tenable because most people believe it leads to the isolation of the brain by itself without accounting for the environment that the brain exists in which, physically speaking, impossible. But it's still a major data point. You still have to account for the activity of neurons and all the research that has been done. In either case you have to accept materialism otherwise there's nothing to talk about since it will be beyond manipulation and comprehension so why bother?

what about just modern theories of consciousness—any good books that discuss the live options, etc.?

what the fuck. is he being sino-ironic?

No just Jewish

There are no modern theory of consciousness that can account for all the various advances in neurosciences. "The man who wasn't there" is a good book to learn about the various conditions that affects consciousness and the self in an easy to read manner. You'll learn that consciousness is very much a physical phenomena that can go wrong if the wiring is not correct.

Moore did it first

He's being a fucking gangster in interviews when he's not doing conferences with Deepak Chopra to finance his sex tourism.

I wonder if he makes chinese room references to her, winking each time

>that erotic art

Man has no shame

Yeah, and he was right, and literally every pseud doesn't even understand his argument.
