Because he is artless. His reviews don't offer any deeper insight than how he relates the contents to his sheltered, unproductive life. He is to literature, what make-up vloggers are to beauty. Non-substantive. Hollow.
Which is fine. It's youtube. He offers a voice for and speaks to many a young men that don't have the facilities to read, and resent themselves for it. He is the edgelord at the end of the table in a book club (oh wait he's too good for that) that doesn't contribute.
