Tfw to dumb too read books

>tfw to dumb too read books
anyone else got this problem?

Don't worry, you can always suck the cock of a smart person so at least you'll be helping out

I have an opening available

Just download Audribble like any other special-ed does

Yeah used to read all the time. Then I got rocked in a car accident and now I’m a fucking tard. Oh well.

read some of the posts here and then ask again if anyone else here has that problem

>user wants his opening filled

Lmao

my father has a lot of trouble reading and writing... we're not sure whats wrong
Try books on tape if there is something you want to read, or having someone read to you

>my father has a lot of trouble reading and writing... we're not sure whats wrong
he's a retard. Like father like son

me, im actually a really fast reader but i cant focus for shit

>tfw too dumb to even read OP's post
I hope this is relevant to the thread

Are you stupid or distracted? I used to read all the time when I was .mil but now that I'm out I can barely read a book a month. Staff duty and deployments are boring as fuck, my house filled with games and internet is not do I'm constantly distracted.

i just bought two books yesterday. how does that make you feel, cyborg?

Does Veeky Forums count as reading?

I honestly cannot concentrate when reading a book. I read stuff on the internet all day every day but give me a book and put me in a chair and I'm lost. My OCD makes me re-read every single thing just in case I have missed some important detail. I just don't have the energy to go through all this.

reading philosophy is the worst shit, it's all page and a half run on sentences
sometimes I get to the second page of convoluted run on sentence and I realize what I am attempting to comprehend is just a drawn out snarky cultural reference that makes no sense in the present day because I have no idea what the fuck dancing like a Aquitainian meant 300 years ago

What type of books are you reading? What genre? Which authors?
Maybe you are just bad at picking books, not at reading.
Try with something easier, sera.

I usually try to read the 20th century classics in their original English (I'm not a native speaker but speak the language very well).

Translations are not an option, so perhaps I'll try to read something in my language.

try an ereader. I'm dead serious. By a cheap one used, to try it out. I'm not sure why, but I've experienced it myself and heard it from others that an ereader actually helps people with reading issues read better. Personally (as someone with ADHD and Depression (a symptom of depression is being unable to read- I KNOW! I didn't know either), I think it has something to do with what we're projected to read. If you have a book in your hand with 300 pages, and you're on page 15, you have 285 pages left to read- if you're jittery, or whatever, that just might be overwhelming. But on an e-reader? You only have one page in front of you at a time. I can't be sure, of course, but I think that's what helps me, at least.

By the way, that thing with not being able to read as a symptom of depression? Totally true. I mean, for like, two years, I just thought I was a fuck up, and every day, I hated myself more- I used to fucking cry, because I used to be able to immerse myself completely in a story, and I just couldn't anymore... turns out, DEPRESSION! Hilarious.

tl;dr: Anyway, I don't know if an e-reader will help you, but it sure as shit helped me. First day I got it? I cried, just because I could READ again.

Hmm. Have you taken him to see a specialist? There are a lot of reasons, from something as "menial" as him just not having learned it properly as a child, to all kinds of psychological problems. If he WANTS to read and write, then I suggest first a specialist to rule out some kind of physical impairment. If it's not like, a tumor, then I'd suggest something like, starting small (children's books) to see if there's something specific that you can pinpoint. Maybe he's just dyslexic, you know?

What makes you think so?
Why don't you just take your time and look up words? May you won't understand everything at first try but at least you do something and do something against your problem besides that.

Try something written in a more modern period.

Also try and read something YA first maybe. If you aren't well rounded with literature in the first place, you shouldn't start off with books that bore the average reader because you're, by your account, a below-average reader.
