Confess, Veeky Forums

Confess, Veeky Forums.

I don't actually read a lot of books, but I'm slowly changing that
I read 3 books this year, compared to 0 of the last year
I plan to read one book a month in the new year

I recognize the geniality behind The Brothers Karamazov, but I can't feel the charm of the story like I felt with Crime and Punishment. I'm sorry Veeky Forums.

I wish I had a magical ring that allowed me to transform into a shota, so I could disguise myself and get twentysomething women with shota fetishes to dominate me.

I only watch girl booktubers because I like to imagine them being my girlfriend

HAHAHA ROFL LMAO, that's quite pathetic, I'm sorry...

I started with the Greeks by reading a bit of Homer and Plato then never went back

>bumps your shelf

I understand you my brother

Sometimes I argue to impress her, not for wisdom’s sake

I thought the first three stories in Dubliners were from the same perspective when I first read it

I only read 1 book this year.

I have a lot of books I started but never finished
I am currently reading The Lord of the Rings, which I started three years ago, but was able to pass the 200th page a few days ago
I am very lazy and my attention spam is very low
Fuck the internet
Fuck Veeky Forums
Fuck reddit
Fuck me, you lazy asshole
I am changing
Any more tips other than leaving the internet?

Pick up the book and keep reading right now you little bitch

Congrats on being more well-read than 90% of Veeky Forums

I read three books per month. A comedy, a pop-sci book and a serious philosophy or psychology work.

I jerk off to tranny porn
And I couldn't even finish
Infnite Jest

this is the worst haiku I've ever seen

I’m writing a vampire book to try and undo the damage Stephanie mayer did to the genre.

Everyone has to start somewhere. But I'm curious, what lead you to browse Veeky Forums if you don't actually read? You would think you would have to have at least a passing understanding in literature to be interested in this board, even if there are a lot of shitposts here.

The problem is, brother, that she is not impressed.

>you would have to have at least a passing understanding in literature to be interested in this board
You'd be wrong. I don't read, but I have a passing understanding of authors and their main books based on memes and browsing Veeky Forums

I got 1/6 of the way through Phenomenology of Spirit a year ago before I put it down, haven't got back to it yet.

I'm 390 pages through moby-dick and I have no idea as to what deeper meaning melville is trying to get across. The only thing I enjoy at times is the prose, but I can't think of anything concrete to say about it so I'd just say its elaborate, eccentric, quaint and witty.
I like the characters and sometimes the prose just blows me away and I reread it and enjoy making a dfw expression of giddy awe on my face but I'd much rather read a jack vance novel for enjoyment.

>he wrote a book called moby dick about seamen on a ship pursuing a sperm whale

hmm. i wonder what it's about.

I read 2 books this year and one book last year.

Last year the internet was out for a a couple of days so I finished all of crime and punishment.

Fuck the internet. I could read a entire 400-600 page book every week if I didn't spend my days trawling though Veeky Forums

stfu the pope is a meme he has no control over purgatory

shitting in the booth
*braaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP*

>the prose
Ah yes, the prose. The prooooooose. the PROOOOOOOSE. There's a reason why the pseuds on this website are always so willing to talk about "the prose" of a book when discussing its merits or flaws. Why attempt to analyze the merits and effects of the literary devices used to add to the development of characters, why attempt to understand the interplay of the perspectives of different characters and the emphasis this places on different themes, the spectrum of ironies used throughout the novel, the historical significance of the novel and the influence it has spawned in literary tradition or the influences seen throughout the work, the specific structure and literary underpinnings of the novel and the way it influences the tone, the author's relationship to the characters and the theme, the presentation of the novel itself to the audience and thus the relationship between reader and text --- why do any of this, when you could talk about "the prose?" You know that you have such a deep understanding of the book, don't you, when you talk about "the prose," the "musicality of it," the "sparseness." What a great artistic touch you have, don't you! Such a highly refined poetic sense! And you feel like such a true reader of literature when you are able to compare these styles: "I am partial to the lyricism of Joyce's prose, as well as the clean and scientific prose of Borges," you might say. What a deep understanding you show! Because the "prose" of a work is such an accessible topic, something that is felt immediately in the body and senses, a nice little sensation and flutter of the heart. Art obviously has nothing else to it, nothing other than the little sensations that I experience, because why should i attempt to understand it on a deeper level than this, when I have such a "refined" sense of the "prose?" Why even attempt to analyze the prose and the poetic and rhythmical underpinnings of it, when I could use a pretty little metaphor for it? It matters little that virtually every reader of literature has access to the music of the words and so my understanding is not quite so advanced as I would think, that form is something that goes hand in hand with theme, that I missed all the deep relationships between characters and between text and reader that existed in the work and that comprise a large part of the literary merit of the text, for my understanding of "the prose" shows such a mastery of language, a fine-tuned sense of the magical flow of the words! Having understood this work, I may as well move onto the next, the next bundle of pretty sensations to experience, the next bagful of fun linguistic treats!

muh ooga prose booga

Maybe they are.

I just fapped to cuck porn

How do you feel? What reached you? Do you have a dearly beloved?

I checked each of the Greek tragedies I read as a separate book on Goodreads to inflate my read books number. In my defence, that's how I read them, each as a separate ebook. I find the idea if reading goals shallow and pointless and I've been vehement about it in related threads. Yet here I am, vile vessel of vanity. Members of the jury, behold this tangle of thorns.

u sound gay

I dunno, embarrassed? My palm reached my dick if that's what you mean. Yes

If you sin with a smile then it aint a sin.

Please realize that that fetish is extremely dangerous.

>You know that you have such a deep understanding of the book, don't you, when you talk about "the prose,"
He literally admitted he didn't get the book on a deeper level though

>If you sin with a smile then it aint a sin.
Not in any orthodox theological tradition

Oh no woe is me. I've gone mad. Just wishing him to look out for himself.

250 pages in crime & punishment

it is so damn boring

You're going to make it, brahs. Just keep reading what you want to read, and one year you'll wake up having read 60 books

My writing style is unoriginal and the only good ideas I have are when I self-insert my stupid travel experiences, which is the only time I leave my house and talk to people.

I write short stories that have no real plot but touch many moral dilemmas, I write in 1st person but from a more romantic, dreamy boy POV so I have a new girl in my bed every week because they think I'm that romantic etc. and I don't like Hemingway's writing style

>so I have a new girl in my bed every week because they think I'm that romantic etc.

do you mean you have sex with females every week? How do you tell them about your writing? I have been writing in first person, but it all seems like weird shit that I think.

I just have a page on which I upload my short stories and it got kind of popular in my country over last few months. Kinda feels like I'm Hank Moody or something like this

I don't read
and I don't write
I'm illiterate

I haven't read a book since high school but I want to change that. I'm sick of movies, vidya, and TV. I spend most of my free time reading articles online anyway. Plus with a book I feel like I acquired something of value from the experience.

what country? Sounds like fun, but you should stop having sex and get married.

Italy. And dude, I'm 19 so I'm not gonna get married

Lel
>mfw I want to do this in Germany
gotta lotta issues to work thru first, so you just publish stuff on your own website? Do you promote anything or send it to a publisher? How do girls find out?

I publish it on my own website. I just send it to some people, they like it and then I ask them to send them to more people that would like it and then BAM I go to a party and I hear "So, you're user, the guy who wrote *title of one of my short stories*?" and it's ON.
The best thing is when some girl is talking about my short story to me, what she liked and she actualy quotes what I wrote. It really makes my heart warm and my pants drop with the speed of light. Best feeling in the world, although I didn't start writing to get women. I even want to start sending my short stories to some magazines in the USA, but the stories don't sound so good when I translate them. You know, many of my descriptions of women and feelings or situations are poetic and it hardly ever sounds good in English. So now I'm working on writing in English.
>mfw I heard once "Every time you upload a new short story I read all of them from the beginning to the end".

And by all means, do it. When somebody compliments your writing you get this writer's boner and you write even more and that helps in developing your own style and in getting better overall.

I've relapsed from nofap(my streak was 10 days) I'm determined now to do it for the next 3 months, I ask for forgiveness Father and for strength so I may climb the path of light

Sounds nice user, keep up the good work, I will sit down and write something now.

can you post your website? I read italian and am very interested

I'd really like to stay anonymous and the website is connected to my real Google+ account, so I have to say no. Sorry.

That's fair, I get it. Congrats anyway fratello

Thanks, now I have to go and do some spaghetti. See ya

it's called adverse selection, you dumb fucking nigger

any recommendations?

big relate

I went to confession like 4 hours ago and the priest looked exactly like that lol
except he was happy, not sad like wojack

I read more memoirs than I do classical literature.
I have more military history, war and memoirs in my collection and to-read list than I do classical literature.

Sci-Fi > Fantasy

They're not going to be read like that. If you're really sick of other mediums just choose one book that sounds appealing to you and open it

I don't actually read books very often
The opinions I post about on Veeky Forums are composed of the opinions of others
When people ask me to explain myself I just shitpost at them until they go away

I only read classic literature though I'm almost certain I miss the majority of themes and the reasons as to why the books are considered classic.

Almost every captcha I enter has the word "calle" in it

Confess, (OP).

Masturbation, laziness, lusting after jezebels.

Charlemagne's biography is boring me, I don't think I can finish it

I steal books from bookstores, but I always read them, if I don't like it, ill just return it and trade it for another book

My greatest wish since childhood is to be an invisible, incoporeal wraith, forever roaming the world's libraries, continually reading and observing the patrons.

That, or to be a giant-cocked futanari in the middle of a futanari anal fuck train.

I didn't read anything outside of course texts this year until a few days ago.
Compared to last year my efforts to become better read have been abysmal although I am hoping to make up for it by making 2018 the year I read and finish 2666, Infinite Jest, Walden, Mason and Dixon, Lord of the Rings and a shitload more philosophy texts and some sci fi like dick.

I'm currently reading a shit erotica novella called A Cup of Rage

read 7 books this year. one book I started in 2016 and all haven't finished lol

Does a person who's sinned and not confessed before they've lost the ability to remember correctly their sin doomed. Do priests have backup plans for dementia patients? Say I never got around to confessing about all the horrendous stuff I did and later when I should be taking care of business and getting absolved for all the murder, rape, theft, and other general despicable shit I like to do on holidays, I get such a fuzzy memory - probably from all the drugs - and I live in a state where I consider myself without sin. How does God deal with the random destruction of memory inside a soul?

I'm terrible at reading books, but this semester showed me that I'm damn good at writing about them

(100% on an 8-10 page paper, finished one of the two books the day before the paper was due, came up with a thesis sometime after, wrote for a solid 5-6 hours, edited it myself without any help, prof said it was a pleasure to read, concise, persuasive, organized)

I read 3 out of the 8 books for the class. Got a 96 on my first paper without finishing one of the two books I wrote about.

>attends college in 2017
>gets good marks
>thinks he's special

Eh, I don't think I'm special. There was one guy in class that understood and spoke about what we read at a very, very high level.

That said, my prof's comments definitely weren't run of the mill "good job."

I don't read the acknowledgements.

I have the hardest time denying even the simplest temptation, I still sometimes procrastinate like an adhd 3rd grader.
It's my only real goal this year, to deny temptations that don't seem to matter.

this is the worst humblebrag i've ever read in my entire life by an insanely large margin

At least I did it anonymously

You're still a nigger though, in the metaphorical sense.

i don't read prefaces and introductions

I haven't read any books in a couple months. Need to take some money and go buy me some, but I always hesitate because I've got my last stack of unfinished modernist works still sitting around.
God, fuck modernists
I guess that's another sin: I picked up Amerika, read two pages and put it down because holy hell is it mind numbing.

Congratulations! You get to be a critic.

wank to tranny porn
I can not finish long book
it's Infinite Jest

I just took a massive doo doo

I have terrible trouble focusing so I end up not reading at all. I like reading short passages but even a chapter is beyond my ability to concentrate. It's like there's something wrong with my brain. I haven't read a complete piece of prose in years.

I'm considering buying everything in Wordsworth editions from now on because they're cheap and I don't care about my books lasting forever.

Humanities degrees, everyone

I am.

Write a travelogue

Kek
Besides, he's probably got talent writing his opinions on books, so this helps

I'd just download epubs

I hate-read In search of lost time and maybe enjoyed 25% of it.

That's basically what I've been doing, with the occasional embellishment.

I enjoy reading great works of literature, but when it comes down to it I come out of them with at best a surface level understanding because I have no idea how to read deeply.

I don't have energy to read after my minimum wageslave plantation ;(

I occasionally read downloaded philosophy books in pdf because paperbacks are out of my budget ;*(

Yeah yeS I stolen a lot of books even being lazy to read, but I swear I will get better in another life somehow

The only books I read are poorly translated chuuni as fuck Japanese light novels

This is me but I still find some time to read

You can do it user, you just have to force yourself to take the first step

Do you work out at all? Maybe you are just lacking energy. Starting doing some pushups, planks, and dips everyday user
