Our "reality" is entirely made up by our limited perceptions. That's why a lot of other languages make a distinction between human truth, and god's truth.

We have no way to percieve what is actually real, so instead we live in our own limited for of reality.

So...in answer to your question, whatever. Either or, doesn't matter when you consider the nature of our reality.

How does any of this help with expression? Languages got simpler over time to accomodate for higher thinking and abstract ideas. Modern languages (that involves programming languages and mathematical notation too) do not describe "the reality", they describe "a reality"

Words are a reality all their own, that reflect only shadows of the "true" reality, that reality which we only perceive of our own senses.
Whether those allow us to be in touch with the universal reality (assuming it exists outside of our minds and isn't a mental construct) is up for debate, and likely will never be proven definitively.

So in essence, words can portray aspects of reality, and allow us to imagine a reality much like our own.
But they can never truly reflect all aspects of reality in a complete form, whether by limitations of language, or simply that of the human brain.
