I'm hoping this is just an old good reads account that you made when you were a kid

There's nothing wrong with including books you've read in an account for keeping track of books you've read.

Ah, The Talos Principle.

Pretty good game.

Geez all you guys have only read 10-20 books each

goodreads.com/user/show/66253492-vivec

I'm at 56. Here you go.

Mathematics, Economics, Philosophy, and Theology.

As regards Philosophy, I am primarily concerned with theological works and political science.

My profile is pretty hit or miss, though I did read some popular fiction works, I don't anymore. I read exclusively non-fiction.

JOYLESS

It's On Conic Sections by Apollonius.

It's a pretty fun logical exercise I do daily. I'm on book III, there are eight books in general.

I guess I went the ol' route of "Euclid's Elements" and had a blast so I wanted more. So that's where I am.

I still read books with words in it though.

But to answer your question, no I don't think it's online anywhere for free like The Elements are.

archive.org/details/treatiseonconics00apolrich

I think i found it, thank you.

>archive.org/details/treatiseonconics00apolrich
Psh. That's T.L. Heath.

I guess if you want a bastardized version of On Conics that's fine. I am reading Taliaferro's translation.

goodreads.com/author/show/16169031.George_Billions

I mostly read various flavors of pulp: crime, horror and weird fiction. I've fallen down the rabbit hole of indie stuff on Kindle.

goodreads.com/user/show/67783745-niklas-tidelius

How are you finding reading War and Peace in German? (or are you reading it in English?)

Not the guy you're replying to, but taliferro's translation is flawed. There are quite a few mistakes in it. adler is a somewhat good writer but as an editor he's not good at all.
btw your profile indicates you're reading heath(?)

Am reading the most recent german trans by Barbara Conrad, it's good has lots of annotations, french is in footnotes, 1-2 times I felt some dialogue was kinda clumsy, but I guess that not avoidable when u translate ~2k pages, haven't read another trans to compare obv, but all in all I'd say it's really really fucking smooth, I can read like 150 pages a day without a problem

Created my account on Tuesday so i could keep better track of the book challenge

...

>hasn't read Mein Kampf
0/10. You're a terrible /pol/tard.

>goodreads.com/user/show/75843227-chromosome-dodger

>this is the average Veeky Forums poster in 2018

this guy fucks

Veeky Forums has gone downhill fast since the /pol/tards showed up.
Non-stop "is X a meme?", theology threads, and /pol/ threads with nothing but stale memes...

...

I'm no /pol/tard but this image is fake

It's accurate

Yeah that picture above is my edits of Taliaferro's translation.

Let me tell you what I don't like about T.L. Heath's version: they are all one big list of propositions. Instead of separating everything by book, T.L. Heath has hundreds of propositions and some of them have been altered or changed because he thought it would be easier to explain or something.

Basically it's not the original. I've seen Heath's version. Didn't like.

I changed my profile now. I have Taliaferro's translation for the first three books and Fried's translation for the fourth.

I read Euclid and Archimedes with Heath's translation because there were no real other options.

never got to post this image. don't even know if it will be readable

goodreads.com/g_euclides

also, did the 2018 challenge already showed up for you guys? I can't find it anywhere to make my new goal

you can do it on your profile or on the homepage

got it, thanks

Read Animal Farm and Brave New World, you pleb. Lay off the self-help books.

goodreads.com/user/show/54260515

Isn't there some kind of group people could join instead of sharing profiles? I don't like interacting with people one on one.

No.

nice. have you read Os Sertões?

oops, meant to quote

goodreads.com/user/show/47618805-sheepo

I was about to add you but then I read your reviews

Why did you only read the first and sixth volume of humes history?

goodreads.com/user/show/24891808-doug

>So many faggots joining in on a shiteating goodreads thread

Back in my day we used to hang goodread faggots by their dicks on Veeky Forums, boy how things have changed.

Nobody cares, shriveldick. Veeky Forums is under new managemeant

>The History of England, 6 Vols
not sure where you're getting that. I read all six

Why do you care?

I tried just adding people in the thread but only got so far before it said I hit the daily limit of adding people, so here's a link to mine for anyone I didn't get to ad.

goodreads.com/user/show/23652313-tim

We've been having this kind of thread for a while now. Also there's nothing wrong with gr per se.

goodreads.com/user/show/74428631-matheus-lima

Also, do you guys have friends in real life who like to read and discuss literature?

>Also, do you guys have friends
no

I have a pretty decent circle of people who I discuss different kinds of literature with on a one-on-one basis, but I don't like to talk about books in groups because of groupthink tendencies

My mistake I saw the Vol 1 and assumed the other was Vol 6 not 6 Vols.

I thought I did until I discovered they were a psued who was using wikipedia and cliff/spark notes to get into my pants.

Classic

I almost never write reviews, and if I do, they're mostly jokes. What stopped you?

Or do you want me to tell you I'm just fine?

Degradation of individuals becomes the degradation of communities which becomes degradation of society.

Don't worry I am jumping from this sinking ship.

You're just pointing out a couple of bad accounts out of the entire website, just don't friend/follow those people if they annoy you.
I've been here since 08 and we have always had the same kind of thread as this one and there has always been a few spergs like you raging about it.
Nothing new.

goodreads.com/user/show/75862641-solomon-grundle

If this is a joke, well fucking done.

If this is unironically who you are, God help you.

your profile picture isn't funny

but it's fuckable boipussy

yes, its also on the image I posted. I really liked it, one of my favorites for sure, Euclides can talk about brazilian geography, history, sociology and culture and still be extremely entertaining. And the contrasts he makes between different regions gave me a whole new perspective of what is Sertão and about the north generally
