Not a novel, but I would really like to write a book about how amazing animals tapirs are and why we should appreciate them more.

here's a novel idea: stop shitposting.

My novel is about a male in his late 20s who is trying to quit drinking while maintaining his shitty job and relationships. When the novel begins, he is asked to emcee his father's second marriage in a couple weeks (his mother died a few years ago). After a nightmarish shift at work, wherein he and his boss have a private conversation about the insanity of working miserably for a company that is so dysfunctional, he goes home and drinks and then he has lunch with his sister, who is bitter about the marriage but who is trying to make peace with the situation. After a nightshift at his stressful job, he has a few drinks and starts drafting a letter to his sister, who he thinks is feeling burnt out from her own job as a doctor and is also succumbing to alcoholism, not necessarily without his influence. He tries and tries to communicate to her the dangers of drinking and his understanding of her frustration with her profession. The Friday before their father's wedding, the protagonist goes to his sister's and her husbands for a barbecue and bonfire. They have a night of fun and partying with some mutual friends and it's clear they're going to deal with their father's remarriage one way or another.
