>like, harry potter, i dont even know haha

>first day of 400-level lit course
>it's a class dedicated entirely to Nabokov
>"Alright, guys let's do a quick ice breaker where we introduce ourselves and our favorite author! Oh, and no Harry Potter or anything like that. I'm talking about literature."
>here 3 girls behind say shoot I was going to say Harry Potter

>400 level
>here

There's literally no prereqs to taking 400-level lit courses except English101/102. All you have to do is be able to read a book in English and be able to write a paper or research paper. They are literally just discussion classes where the teacher moderates and provides necessary information to keep discussions on track. Then you write a paper on the books often doing a close-reading and analyzing. You literally just have to be able to write a coherent and logical paper. They're not asking for a fucking publishable criticism. They just want a paper with a supportable argument by analyzing the text and bringing in other critiques and sources if necessary. Have you ever taken a literature course in your fucking life?

What shite school do you go to where there's no prereq's for 400 level English courses?

Why should there be a prereq lmao? The only prereq needed for an English class is to be able to read and write a paper. Are you that daft? It's not a fucking writing class, IT'S A FUCKING LITERATURE CLASS WHERE YOU READ THE BOOK. LMAO in 101/102 they teach you all the rhetoric shit to recognize in writing and how to write papers. That's literally all you need to know for a lit course. What kind of shit high school do you go to right now?

you know for other reasons my sex drive is gone so i dont theyse girls do nothing to me i like cute interesting girls that we can talk and thats the way i prefer a lot more

Seriously my dude there are no prereqs for most things in college provided you aren't an idiot. You still have to take lower classes to fulfill major requirements but you can just jump into the higher stuff immediately if you're inclined.

I think like this only after I masturbate

baby, with that ass you could like reading the phonebook and I wouldn't mind

>First day of 400-level lit class
>It's a class entirely dedicated to Tolstoy and Dostoevsky
>"Alright, guys let's do a quick ice breaker where we introduce ourselves and our favorite author!"
>hear all the guys say the same names over and over that they have learned reflect their desire to present a high-brow taste.
>I say Judy Blume.
>Guys snigger behind me.
>They don't actually read any of the books, they just read Sparknote summaries and wank off to vague philosophical questions they pose to the class that are tangentially related to the material.
>most of them either don't turn in the final paper or turn in a paper 3 or 4 pages below the minimum requirement.
>I get an A because I actually read the fucking books.

I liked this post but I could have gone with a little less of projection
B+

I hate women with all my heart.

tell me why...

>400-level computer science course
>some guy asks on class forums how to calculate an average
>TA points him to the standard library function for doing so
>"no, i mean what is an average?"
these people graduate

Why do you fat burgers call essays “research papers”

well maybe he meant to ask what type of average

>lol i NEED a good new show, THANK YOU

because they are different, i'm not american btw

u sound bitter

But you don’t write research papers in 400-level literature courses. They’re generally for people who know what they’re talking about and writing something more than an 8-10 page essay (which dumb Americans find difficult to do for some reason) on some writer in the course

bitter about what

Should have pointed at him instead.

What can you do with a literature degree?
Not being snarky just wondering

Study literature
Also Mitt Romney has an English degree

...

a cheeky tenner says this one is an american
