Deep cuts only, no hits.

For the child who /feels/

>Olaf and the Echoing Cave
>Aesop's Fables
>The works of Lady Gregory
>The works of WB Yeats

my current theory is that society puts men into an abusive relationship where they exchange their self-esteem to partake in a kind of pyramid scheme where they "earn it back" by laboring in various ways. i think this is why guys so often end up being creepy, weird, socially unacceptable, etc. to women and think that the issue is not having enough money, success, abs, etc. since you can pretty much get a girlfriend by just being social and normal. men then try to force women to enter this abusive relationship. this requires restriction of female auto nomy and especially sexuality, since the guys who are "playing along" with the pyramid scheme need to be "rewarded" with female relationships. i actually believe in the concept of patriarchy since i started having these thoughts. i think this is some dark old survival mode human self organization stuff

oh yeah, to get back to your op pic, i think women are on some level trading the "easy life" you want to offer them to save all of our souls, at quite a high level of personal suffering in many cases, and that we should thank them for it. some guys are mad that women want them to be actual humans, or they don't understand that that's all anyone wants from them

but i'm a weird internet guy so we

This reads like Faulkner or some shit wtf

Dahl isn't exactly a deep cut but homeboy could write a good kid's book
The Witches in particular was kino

Seeing tirades like these completely free of context really emphasizes how delusional they actually are

in reference to op's pic

I tried to read it before, saw the words "women", "pyramid scheme" "patriarchy" etc., run on sentences, and no capitalization, so I mentally auto-completed it to be an incel tirade. I'm still not sure I agree but I see you were trying to say something different. My bad dude

sorry i drove many hours today so i'm not coherent. but no i'm trying to write the opposite of an incel tirade

holy shit is that the original image. i've seen so many shooped versions over the years i dont think ive ever actually seen the original

The phantom tollbooth

Anything by Roald Dahld

>on Veeky Forums
>doesn't read
least surprising thing I've heard all day

Favorite Dahl?

I know, I'm ashamed. But usually when you've seen one incel rant you've seen them all

yea

Not too far from the truth. It's good women are becoming actual individuals, and now men need to click out of the "women are the prize' mode. Because really, most of these chicks aren't really worth it but you got simple-minded dudes feeling so blessed that a woman graced their presence.

Another way to put it: men have forgotten they're supposed to be the pushers and movers of the species and now just try to crawl up under some roastie for her affections, but that's becoming more of a servant than a leader, and women subconsciously detest that.

on the contrary, there are a thousand different Veeky Forums takes on women and at max half of them are primarily driven by "involuntary celibacy", not to mention there are some real gems of insight in the rough
your entire job is to read people you potentially disagree with for the sake of greater understanding about both them and their subject matter. If you can't sympathize with incels/marxists/neonazis/feminists/nerds/sluts/middle management, chances are you don't understand them very well

also back 2 reddit, etc

The story was interesting but it was a grammatical disaster. Children's books are the foundation for the next generation of literacy.

desu incels play at least part of a role in my theory of because it seems like men who think they're "playing along" but are failing to get a gf. it's like they're expecting this structure and it's not there. red pill people actually seem to explicitly call for the the stuff i described in . like they think that someone (i guess the red pill masterman geniuses?) should scam beta nerds into building society for them by socially pressuring women into marrying them if they're productive enough. and since that's not the case they should act like out of control retards and manipulate girls to fuck you or something even though mountains of girls these days actually want casual relationships and basically all you need to do is not be creepy or socially dysfunctional

... Tough. I think I may have most enjoyed his autobiography Boy. Guess I've always preferred non fic

Boy was pretty good desu

>socially dysfunctional
tfw either way our society is dysfunctional

Read Esther Vilar

is it? seems pretty incredible if you are psychologically/emotionally equipped to just handle certain impulses

Even outside the context of relationships it's more or less a goofy pyramid scheme that we are forced to learn the rules to as a mere practicality (starting from birth), but can opt-out of with the right education and effort. The sad part is many people who are so frustrated with it don't know where to start, or start taking that frustration out on others.

My beef is more or less with societal conditioning and all the pettiness and mediocrity that comes with it, not really people (although they do propagate the memes, consciously or unconsciously).

i think i read her when i was like 15 or something and got mad at my mom for asking my dad to take out the trash or something. i think the parts we fail to put together with some of those insights:

-women dont really seem attracted to the men they can 'manipulate' and seem to resent being with them on some level
-society collectively expects women to settle down with these guys and is manipulating them into doing so
-this entails restriction of female autonomy and at some level control of their sexual behaviors

if you tell guys this a lot of them won't even disagree. often they'll just freak out cause they think that if we stop manipulating girls they'll somehow all be fucking some jacked rich guy called chad and nobody else will ever get laid (?) cause they've never had the experiences to realize girls will generally like you if you just be yourself, have some level of self-esteem, and don't do anything excessively odd or creepy

>realize girls will generally like you if you just be yourself, have some level of self-esteem, and don't do anything excessively odd or creepy
If only "girls" were some monolithic entity of impeccable poise and clarity, lol. Not saying you're wrong, but I see it so often that people seem to imply girls have some built in baseline of what's "acceptable" or not, when that's just hilariously not true.

very true :^)

I hate incels because I was so close to becoming one, and by that I mean matching their mentality.
I honestly think the reason I never began to feel any kind of resentment for women is because I never watched porn. I would virtually always fap to softcore images and never even found the idea of sex arousing until I was much older.

Where the Wild Things Are of course for younger kids

The historical fictions of Henry Treece

Don't know how deep a cut this is by Mark Helprin's A Kingdom Far and Clear trilogy.

William Mayne's A Year and a Day and the Earthfasts trilogy (used to be famous, now out of print, I think, because of his conviction)

Thanks boys.

Gonna go ahead and say that mythology starter texts are some of the best books you've can get a young person
I would go to the library when i wasn't like 8 and look for books about all the gods and religions of different areas of the world. The Norse myths in particular are fanciful and fun for a young person who loves fantasy.

Kino list, the Arabian Nights have a couple of good stories for kids that they'll enjoy because of pop culture (Aladdin). Also fairy tales are apex kidkino, you basically have to have them if you want to have a literary kid.

I wish we knew the age of the people commenting on this website, so I could easier filter out the immature world views... you can't be older than 21

I came up with that list in trying to remake the whole Disney classics et al. thing from their original textual sources. The idea first came to me when I noticed that I wasn't able to find a single thing in common between Frozen and Andersen's Snow Queen that it's supposedly based on, and now that I think of it, even before that a carrollfag yelled at me for liking Disney's Alice in Wonderland. O
While the House of Mouse never intended to do philological shot-for-shot ultra-faithful adaptations of any of these stories, of course, I want to find out how much you can fuck up a fairy tale or children's short story.

you might be right about that i think porn really does encourage you to like hate women. and to get off on hating them so then you cant really separate it.

Anyone?

I didn't say anything wrong. We live in a world rife with lies and confusion, but obviously it's possible to survive and make your own way.

And what, you think I'm arguing for some dissolution of society? Don't be stupid. It has it's function. But it's equally true that, depending on the quality of the culture, a society can be either conducive or actively harmful to an individual growing deciding their own way. Naturally this goes down to the family level as well.

Society (or any group) is just an organism that exists to maintain and propagate itself. The mistake comes in when people confuse societies (or a group's) concepts and standards with reality instead of something they are choosing to participate in.
