Only the worst in the Boom Latinoamericano.

josé donoso
jorge ibargüengoitia

Guimarães Rosa is, imho the best Brazillian writer of all time. But I really can't think of how he could be translated, it's a kind of genius only Brazillian portuguese can display, not even people in Portugal may appreciate it the same way.

Jorge Carrera Andrade
Pablo Palacio
Miguel Donoso Pareja
Demetrio Aguilera Malta
The author of my diary, desu.
Magical Realism started in Ecuador.

Asturias

Fuentes is absolute garbage.

Oh yeah, Melville was born in Guadalajara, right? And Faulkner was born in Buenos Aires, def Latin Americans.

Magical realism is not a thing. It's a nonsense label.

cheeky

Is Brazil latin america? cause if so, a lot of brazilian writers

aka
Machado
Ramos
Guimarães Rosa
Rodrigues
R. Alves

Loser

None of you niggers have mentioned Di Benedetto yet

Fuck I got BTFO

What is the general opinion on Carlos Fuentes? I have been reading Terra Nostra and I am enjoying it so far.

Groundbreaking

yes it is, portuguese is based on latin, unfortunately many people say latin america when they mean hispanic america, so go figure

Don't listen to the contrarians, he is fantastic. It just so happens that he is extremely popular as well

he's not popular, he's well-known.

Well, we can. Some of us, at least.

Me

Trade in all this second-rate spic garbage and devote your time to a handful of actually worthwhile writers.

t. el goblino americANO

Justo Sierra
Alfonso Reyes
Amado Nervo

Augusto Roa Bastos

Roberto Bolaño

>wild redneck appears, it uses racist slurs, but it's uneffective

Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz

Is there anything like First Dream in the anglo poetic tradition?

>calls Borges and Nobel Prize winners "second-rate spic garbage"

I know Portuguese is a romance language i just don't really consider it latin america cause brazilians are culturally a lot different from the rest of SA

Then what's the point in calling it Latin America if we're not going to include Brazil despite being culturally different?

Baiting is an art and you don't got it

Nelson Rodrigues
Guimarães Rosa
Graciliano Ramos
Augusto dos Anjos
Manuel Bandeira

Would you consider French Canada a part of "Latin America"? It's the same problem with Brazil. Here in the US when we think of a "Latino" it's either some Mexican, Puerto Rican or Cuban speaking Spanish and dealing drugs. They often look like they have a white+native genetic background etc.. I've talked to some Brazilians who studied in my Uni and they were always confused when they were told to tick 'latino/hispanic' in their forms.

>the BRs that high up

Huahuahua engraçado

>I disagree with your opinion therefore it must be bait
>Caring about the nobel prize

Yeah, but no one really cares about Americans opinion on other people's race because you guys always project your own anxieties unto others.

Brazil is not part of "Hispanoamérica", but its it's own thing.
