Which testament is better?
Which testament is better?
Old, hands down.
>NT
>27 "books"
7 at best desu
The old is more Veeky Forums, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't read both.
>calling an epistle a "book"
You'd be fine with just Genesis, Exodus, the Gospels, and Revelation desu
OT has more blood and gore, but I was so sick and tired of all the laws the Jews have to follow, how many shekels of whatever the fuck go into whichever specific kind of offering, and that Jewish obsession with keeping track of lineage, X was the son of Y, the son Z, and so on and so forth.
Sure, the NT wasn't all that different in those regards but I still felt like the OT took it to another level.
Are there other religious texts as honest and candid as the wisdom books in the OT or the Christian letters in the NT? Books like Corinthians fascinate me because they're willing to talk so openly about all the problems they're having in their religion in a book that's part of the primary religious canon, even a lot of things like fornication you'd think they'd just hide away and pretend never happened to preserve their image.
If you want ACTION, read everything from Judges through Kings
Relevant books from the Old Testament:
>Genesis
>Exodus
>Job
Relevant books from the New testament:
>Revelation
You pick.
Apocrypha
The most worthwhile part of reading the New Testament for me is seeing how the early Church schisms influenced doctrine. It's weird reading Paul's letters and knowing that a big part of them was sticking it to the Docetists.
Old.
Jesus is a fag.
The severe autism of some of the OT actually makes the NT message much more powerful desu
Relevant to what?
OT had more literary merit, and the messages are easier to get behind
NT starts strong and ends strong, but it gets pretty repetitive and Dallas apart once Paul steals the show and starts contradicting Jesus
Plus, nothing in the NT, save the sermon on the mount, reaches the beauty of Ecclesiastes, Job, or Song of Songs
>not reading Ecclesiastes
All else is Vanity
My favorite tales are Samson and Lot's. Are those in the Old one? Old it is.
Read Genesis, Exodus - so you know what happened to the Jews. Just the basic shit. Leviticus is just basicly rules.
You can literally read Matthew, Marc, Luke and John - They are they same story just 4 different versions. Read Marc, Acts,Peter, and Revelation
With that your knowledge about Christianity will be all fucked up
Read the whole thing and all the Apocrypha and then form your own opinion
underrated
New. Jeaus put the Christ in Christianity.
I didn't spell it right because I don't want to mention his name in vain.
who >Christ ?
