I really really love the 15th, it's one of my all-time favorite pieces of music from any genre or style. I also really enjoy his Piano Quintet and String Quartet no. 8, and then Quartet 15 is also very good although I don't often listen to it because it is so dreary.

Take a look at köppen climate classification. even only in the european part of russia (east boundary is Ural mountains, ural river, caspian sea, kuma-manych) you will find at least 3 very different climates - only one is distinctively cold year-round. The other two depend largely on the state of siberian anti-cyclone and atlantic masses (pressure difference between hadley cell and islandic low, position of the polar front / rossby waves etc). The real "russian" cold is in the east, where culture is not at all prominent.
