I'm from NZ and make no mistake China's influence is not a good thing for the west. America was cancer too, but China has nearly singlehandedly manipulated our politicians through a combination of bribery and its own CCP-mouthpiece news turning the local Chinese into agents of foreign policy that it's financially destroyed the housing market for NZ youth.
To put this into perspective, the average price of a house in Auckland went over $1mm in 2016. Just an average house. While wages have stagnated for decades and food goes up. And Chinese speculation carries on, and a lot of them preferentially rent to only other Chinese and won't consider you if you aren't. We're now considered the most expensive city in the whole world.
So yes, I don't think Chinese influence is a good thing. I used to but now I think they're worse for us than the fucking US. It's growing in Europe and if you're smart you'll keep it to a minimum because they will always put Chinese first, so you'd better not do the same.

China is going to suffer extreme problems in its future, though. Unlike other expansionist countries, they already are in demographic decline, which means that their current policies cannot be continued for long, and they'll either suffer economic stagnation or must let in economic migrants.
Add the fact that they don't have much of a culture left after Mao, and the fact that Christianity is gaining a serious foothold, which both seriously hinder the stability of China.
