MetaMaus

Why isn't there a film based on this amazing graphic novel?

It happened to Persepolis, so why not this one?

Maus is shit though.

They say in the book. People asked Spiegelman but he doesn't want to.

Spiegelman is a formalist, there are things that only comics can do.

Not to say a film can't be made,
but I really can't see Spiegelman ever being on board.

Why? Look what they did to Watchmen. A great comic is a great comic, not a great film. Persepolis had a nice, simple art style and was as a comic relatively conventional. But Maus is sometimes pretty experimental and is, like Watchmen, a "comic about comics". Pulling it out of its context won't add anything to it artistically.

>le jew books desu

>I like this book
>why haven't they made a remake in my favourite medium?

You're on the wrong board, friendo.

Garbage

>jews are mice

Really makes ya think

Does it?

>jews are rats
How did he get away with this?

Do you not know anything about the holocaust?

>Poles are swine

How did he get away with this?

>Stop motion movie by Wes Anderson
Would watch

Where's the part where Jews start multiple communist revolutions and murder innocent people plunging the world into chaos? Or do we only get to hear about muh holocaust?

>plunging the world into chaos
>but not World War 1 (Germanic aggression against the Franco-Anglo order) or mechanization or the rise of the dollar and the fall of colonialism

...

I loath this picture.
Egon Schiele is one of the greatest talents the world has ever produced.
It's so typical for a fucking stormfrontshitter to not have any bildung at all.

>Jewish nepotism is talent

Umm no sweetie

>people genuinely defend hitler's terrible scetches a 12 year old picasso could do

>hurrdurr I maek randum shaeps I R artist picasso

Are you blind or something?

Am I supposed to be impressed by Hitler's motel art?

Embarrassing. This is not /mu/ or /b/, have some taste.

>anti white or anti western=good to the brainwashed leftist

Hitler's art was a dime a dozen. Art schools wanted someone who was pushing the boundaries.

His work was nice, but that's it, really belonged on postcards rather than portrait halls

You do know that a young picasso was a realist, right?

You are embarrassing yourself, go back to your containment board.

That's a funny way of saying that you don't get in if you aren't Jewish.

The only one of the pictures made by hitler that could be classified as nice, would be the middle one. The right one is not good, and the sketches are laughable.
And some of his other works aim for realism, but fail miserably. Like a bad Cezanne.

Probably because that wasn't what he was saying.

Do you even know what art school this picture is even referencing?

and /pol/ likes to think they're cultured

>applies to art school at the height of modernism with some boring bourgeois realism
but I agree with you about the Jews and I'm glad Hitler got rejected from art school it wasn't his calling

> itt dudes who can't get published hating one of the world's most successful performance artists of all time

I thought Maus was pretty engaging way of investigating the victims, for a kid's book.

>makes no mention of Jewish Bolsheviks slaughtering millions

This book is pure Jewish propaganda.

>implying anyone on this board could surpass 12 year old picasso

Hrdlicka was not jewish.

That is exactly what i'm saying.
And to sir here and say that picasso is bad, and hitler, who couldn't hold a candle to his genius as a 12 year old, is somehow good, is absolutely laughable.
I genuinely don't understand how people become this deluded.

just because hitler was a bad artist doesn't mean picasso wasn't a pseud

Whether he was a pseud or not is irrelevant to the artwork, though.

>if other people pretend to like something I'm such a herd animal that I pretend to like it too so no one notices me having an independent thought

But those paintings are great. Accept it, nazi bitch, Hitler was a shitty artist.

why would spiegelman's family have anything to do with the soviet union? also none of the jews in the book are likable, Art paints his grandfather as a stereotype and has many scenes were Jews sell out other Jews (and usually die because of it)

The book is half horror-porn (like the german swinging a kid into a brick wall) half critique (the grandfather having little remorse for things done during that time, very little empathy for his fellow elderly survivors and family, obvious detachment for a period that was traumatic but now is basically a mildly painful, blurry memory)

sure it's pop-holocaust in an accessible format but it's not propaganda. They don't even get to Auschwitz until part 2 and then, surprise surprise, they survive

...

Literally r*ddit tier art taste. Go back.

> praising gaudy trash that average liberals add to their inter-sectional "we wuz" Pinboard in hopes of virtue signalling to fellow proles; the equivalent of a fart, directed at a boogeyman that isn't even two degrees of separation away from the viewer, let alone within their immediate vicinity; producible by high school students with 5 hours to devote per week to their craft; will probably be auctioned to a 1/4 - 1/8th anglo/mestizo rapper for 7 or 8 figures in the near future

I like the part when the dad insults black people.

There have been over 40,000 films made that reference the Holocaust.

Yes we absolutely need another to add to the pile.

It's the opposite really, r*ddit is all all about shit like modernism or pop or neo-pop art (which even Gombrich admitted is shit) ; assemblage, action painting, body art and perhaps worst of all, dada art.

Literally the opposite, r*ddit can't understand anything that is realism and unironically thinks hyperrealism is good. Pic related: what I found after 3 seconds of browsing the art subreddit.

that isn't*

Most r*ddit comment I've seen on this website.

t. r*ddit

i fucking love that painting and had thought i lost it thank you

so is persepolis
t.sandnigger

I asked myself the same thing while reading it. My only answer is there are moments in Maus that really only work in the form of a graphic novel, like the beginning of Part Two where Art Spiegelman is being harassed by questioning and he turns to the reader through the panel (at least that's if I remember that part correctly).

I think it would make a good film though.

Fuck off back to Alabama.

...

I agree, it wouldn't work. and would probably come across as tasteless.

>boring building paintings with no personality
Woah... I am now a /pol/fag

Did you guys actually read it?
The Jewish are not portrayed that well in the book

keked at >1/4-1/8 anglo

>le hitler was a good artist meme

Just about the driest most bland and generic hotel room stock art tier pictures I have ever seen, he didn't even have an ounce of talent. You could learn how to draw like that in a week.

>Implying /pol/ idiots are capable of reading more than an MS paint "info graphic"

Agreed. It's almost like he never even went to art school. Pathetic.

I never understood why poltards keep reposting that image. None of those works was made at the academy and the academy didnt support or encourage making such works. Schiele didnt even graduate in the end and those other two guys are literally whos.
Besides that Hitlers watercolours arent exceptional for his day and age and he actually had an appointment with a certain illustator to ask for an apprenticeship but never showed up for unknown reasons.

I've read Maus 1 and 2, what is this MetaMaus thing? Also, ignore the /pol/ baits fags, we are on a board with an average IQ of 140.
