Why is there so much hatred for Charles Dickens online?

Why is there so much hatred for Charles Dickens online?

Why is his natural genius so underappreciated?

>"It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known.”

>“I looked at the stars, and considered how awful it would be for a man to turn his face up to them as he froze to death, and see no help or pity in all the glittering multitude.”

people still believe this meme

>haha did you know he was paid by the word? That's why his books are so long and boring ahahahahaha

>reddit spacing

>hatred for Charles Dickens
Really?

He was paid by installment and stretched out his novels as a result of that. There's so much filler in his books I don't blame people for believing he was paid by the word.

excuse me?

Because this is full of neets, social darwnists and randroids who hate the poor

This is unironically true.

So much of this board is intellectual posturing as opposed to people who enjoy reading for its entertainment value and fun.

Wtf I love ready player one now

No, my point is that this board is full of pseuds who believe they are superior to the poor dispite being parasites and read masturbatory texts like the "Bell Curve", Ayn Rand or Max Stirner because those texts tell them they are very special snowflakes like they rich parents used to do

you forgot to mention all the fake marxists, catholics, monarchists and national socialists who also hate the poor

>space between paragraphs, looks nice
>noo it reminds me of reddit plz no

The dislike of Dickens on this board has nothing whatsoever to do with 'hatred of the poor;' the dislike of Dickens here is most clearly the property of posters who know very little about reading, and even less about writing.

>>"It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known.”
Batman said that tho?

>the "Bell Curve", Ayn Rand or Max Stirner
One of those is very unlike the other two.

before you sperg out I don't have a high IQ, or care about my IQ. It's just obvious to me that the hatred of IQ as a measure of intelligence is due entirely to ideological and political biases.

It's funny, because I actually have a 138 IQ and I am poor but the people who must care about IQ are actually losers who milk the wallets of their rich parents, special snowflakes

The economist Samuelson found a correlation of 0.02 between wealth and intelligence with a lot of pear reviews while Murray "found" a correlation 0.65 withouht pear reviews, and it's, what a coinhindence, shilled by rich people who are infamous for faking IQ tests.

I am poor and high-IQ, envy, lol no. I am making my way to wealth but my parents are a lot more intelligent than me and one is a dishwasher and other is a primary school teacher.
If you really believe that IQ has a high correlation with wealth you are trust fund kid and a snowflake

Did I hurt your feelings?

yes you did you fag

This post may be the single greatest argument against IQ correlating to practical intelligence.

Again, my feelings are entirely disconnected from this conversation, though yours are plainly not.

IQ predicts outcomes in life, IQ is partly heritable, IQ differs among races and classes. Variability of IQ differs among races and the sexes.

The picture this paints is very obvious, and it is only because this picture began to emerge in the 20th century, while enormously influential social and political and academic movements, that depended on it not being true, were gaining ground, that it is at all controversial

Also, Peer review is of course science by consensus, that is science by priesthood, and not science at all.

Science depends on being reproducible by different people, not on 'peer review'

I read his books. I get bored. I stop reading. I continue reading and become even more bored. This process repeats until I finish one of his books.

I go on Veeky Forums and mention the above and get told I am wrong for some reason.

If he wrote today, he would be dismissed solely for being serialised. The pseuds know they can get a lot of pseud cred from claiming to like him or claiming you have to like him

>pear reviews
How about apples?

Do you think all 4channers use indented paragraphs with no gaps in between?

>Samuelson found a correlation of 0.02 between wealth and intelligence
pls share

dickens sucks, but not as much as being mad about your lack of financial clout

In the beginning you hate dickens because he’s old, then you hate him because he’s long winded and sentimental, then, finally, you realize that he creates a particular kind of story that very few can, and you are glad that his novels are unnecessarily long because it allows you to spend more time with him. His genuine sentiment is a rare thing in literature and even rarer in the modern era, I only consider Victor Hugo to be capable of something similar.
