>Student A reads YA and genre shit
>Student B reads middlebrow bestsellers
>Student C reads poetry and classic literature

Student C > Student B > Student A

>muh quality over quantity
How about, pleb... listen to me... try to understand... Student A reads quality literature? Wow.

If he read quality he would go insane

This, of course the best answer would be something like 2 hours of quality literature, 2 hours of studying a new language, and an hour of poetry.

>reading quality literature for 30 minutes a day drives you insane
The absolute state of this board.

one minute of poetry and classic literature a day, right, that's useful.

what're your reading plans for March? "I thought I'd start reading Ulysses because I'd like to have finished it by the end of 2021."

ridiculous.

Because he would see how shit books have become, and his pursuit of decent literature will only result in dissatisfaction of the thing he reads, where in he will either crumble and conform to pleb tastes or die of mental starvation

This would explain a lot.

Or he could go pursue something else armed with the stronger mental faculties from reading like that in his youth.

Or maybe you're wrong and there's plenty of decent writing going on at present, not to mention the immense depths of quality literature already in existence that a child reading 30 minutes a day can scarcely scratch the surface of. Maybe you're actually either too uneducated or incurious to keep the ball rolling after an initial dalliance with literature.
