Yes. No.

Yes

Not many books by Australian authors though. The last one I read was Lasseter's Last Ride, which was pretty interesting.

ye, I'm in Adelaide.

Attached: mum said kanga.jpg (960x960, 121K)

Yes, maybe a bit too much Patrick O'Brian though.

Are there lots of kengoroo there? Like do you see them often?

Sydney here.
Bankstown boy.

Kangaroos are so common in Australia that they're frequently culled. You probably won't see them in the middle of a major city but you will basically everywhere else. If you're super unlucky you'll see one go through your windshield.

Me

That sounds cool. I live in Russia and the only wild animal I ever saw was a calf-elk which apparently got lost in the thick mist.

I think I'd feel a bit weirded out to move out of Australia and not see kangaroos hopping around every now and then. Although I'm sure many tourists coming here feel a similar way about seeing them.

So am i.
Honestly, you'll probably see a dead kangaroo before a live, in the wild i mean.

You're likely to smell one before you see it

You won't find them in the cities but they're pretty much everywhere. Once you get into the outer suburbs they start showing up. I live in a more regional area up coast from Perth and I see kangaroos pretty much every day, especially on the golf course. Emus are less common but they're in the area.

You can eat kangaroo too. They're pretty nice.

I see wallabies every now and then - last week a wild echidna nosed its way through the scrub in the back yard.

I can't imagine living and being from voids like Canada, new Zealand, Australia. They have decided their histories are worthless and they are just husks hollowed out by capitalism

I was about two meters from stepping on the 2nd most venomous snake (in the world) a couple weeks ago (while wearing thongs), also swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor) are common where I live.

nz doesnt think its history is worthless, it gets pushed really hard in schools

it really is though

i like to, but only on the one day of the year when the bogans next door aren't too loud with their 8 kids and dirt bikes in their backyard for me to concentrate

brown snake I found under my kitchen table the other week

dads from rural Queensland and he instilled in us the wisdom that the only good snake is a dead snake. wont be needing a brown snake attacking the dogs

Geraldton?

same, used to kill them all the time because we had dogs. ballsy aiming that far back from the head.

the evolved ape-man rush of doing battle with snakes is glorious

Nah just into ecology, I've smacked a few cane toads when I had dog though.

>mfw i'm drinking something from dan murphy's right now.

I'm from Geelong (small city below Melbourne). Most people here will either say reading is beneficial but won't read more than three books a year, or will be open about not enjoying reading.

Anybody go to uq here? No one i've met at uni reads

What are you studying?

I'm in Melbourne but I'm originally from the US, does that count?

Attached: kantfichte.png (2142x2163, 1.65M)

I ate one today. Leanest meat around

I go to QUT, barely anyone reads over here

Are you saying there is something wrong with reading Patrick O'Brian?

>have a nice habit of crawling into your backyard and making grunting noises.

Just like the bogans down the road after a big night

I'd say something is wrong in (those) ignorant of Patrick O'Brian.

>just grunting noises
at least you don't have birds which walk up to your window in the middle of the night and make this sound: youtube.com/watch?v=QmN_WBJs3Nw

Comp sci. I wanna learn a language at iml too

Non tradie= Non literate
I can listen to 3+ books a week at work then come home and read on the weekend. Can you say the same?

Attached: 1483271151875.jpg (2040x1660, 365K)

Dan's a bad man.

Attached: Humble Wine Salesman...png (501x585, 58K)

Yes, I'm in Perth

Australians are anti intellectual mostly and don't read

WORTHY OC mate

Why would I want to listen to a book at work?

You go to UofA? I'm in second year of my Arts degree, wbu?

Tradies are just cashed up bogans with better rights than most poor, at this point. If you go to rural towns, they're actually very literate - especially shearers.

You could impress all your colleagues and the sexy ladies will ask you on dates. Of course you will need to decline the offer as it will cut in to your book reading time but you will become the hot topic around the water cooler.

I work alone though

You'll be the only topic around the water cooler.

Found the published author. How do you do it, user?

Attached: tfw when rejected for publication.jpg (300x168, 7K)

BASED

I dropped out of uq, doing a BA majoring in literature and latin. i was the only person that read.

im about to do the prawn season in the gulf, was gunna take shantaram and a history of the korean war.

do any of you guys read gerald murnane?

I’m at UQ in first year, doing CS/phil. I’ve been posting about my discovering how analytic the phil department is. I’m thinking of dropping phil as a major and picking up a maths minor. Good luck finding anyone else reading.

Does Latin stay as comfy later on as it’s been so far? I’m already at the point I was in grade 10 German.

ANU?

same actually

desu, senpai, notice me, i need more friends there. email me at a1727842

We actually all shitpost instead of reading, just like everyone else here.

i'm not too sure about Veeky Forums meetups, considering the precedent.

Attached: 1433397866445.jpg (2997x2056, 805K)

Fair enough. But, if your name is Reuben we can talk about Nick Land haha.

I’m tempted to do the same for UQ, but I’m too pussy(up from VIC)

Yeah, it sucks.

Fuark

I did a bit of construction work a few years back and this is so fucking accurate

anyone read this?

Send all your money to Africans or you're the type of person to let a child drown in front of him.

Attached: singer gf.jpg (2000x1330, 753K)

Theres a phenomena from listening to books on a work site where certain house floor plans become memory palaces and when you step back on to a particular plan you get a detailed rush of memories about such and such books

tradies posses their own means of production unlike most of the middle class as well as powerful union goonery

Attached: 1483270826326.jpg (2186x1500, 252K)

>Arts degree,
I'm 24/7 in Braggs labs STEM masterrace

No, you get a memory of listening to someone read a book. The only books that could be fully comprehended after listening to someone else read them once are not worth reading.

I'm in my first year CS too.. we prob have a few subjects in common
Are you a member of the philo club or the computing society?

no

Haven’t been in the computing society, but I’ve been on the philo association Facebook group a bit. If you want to find me it should be obvious from there.

Attached: image.jpg (1024x684, 547K)

Same.

Well shit. I thought I already knew all 3 people in Geelong who know how to read.
Unless we know each other

Another adelaidefag here relieved to have all the election BS over

I'm most relieved that the shitty ads on tv will finally leave

thats not a fucking brown snake you retard, not every snake that's brown is a brown snake.

>not studying at a small close-knit university

Attached: UNE.jpg (260x174, 54K)

I’m reading this book right now

thats a juvenile brown snake boofhead

All the qt booktubers are Australian.
