Confes your literary sins

I don't like arguing about things that i actually know a lot about, but i do love arguing about things that i am sort of familiar with and then pretending like i'm an expert and really sure about my case, or by making statements that are sort of half correct. I do this so i can learn more about certain things from people on Veeky Forums who actually do know about these things while also pissing them off.

Also i like to post lewd SFW pics on blue board. It's the only reason i have a porn folder to begin with.

I wasted my time reading "The Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand - the entire worthless libertarian tome.

A lot of the western philosophical canon feels like bullshit to me. I'm probably going to take a break from philosophy for like a year because I've invested a lot of time and energy into reading it the past two years and it feels like a road to nowhere. Just try n enjoy life or some shit. I am a brainlet I know

I like the Lord of the Rings movies but couldn't make it past the first hundred pages of the books. I credit Tolkien for his ridiculous influence and creativity, but there were so many poems, songs, and diversions that I just lost interest. I find fantasy literature pretty unbearable.

I write and read cheesy romance fiction. I read pic related every year around Christmas.

I enjoyed Hannibal just for the insane ending.

I've yet to find a book I love.

The Wind-up Bird Chronicle is one of my favorite books, but Norwegian Wood is one of my least favs. What does this mean?

I haven't read a single word in the Bible
T H I C C

Genesis 1:1 King James Bible
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

thanks senpai

I busted one of the best nuts in my life jacking it to Virginia Woolf's description of a sickly Rachel's distorted perception of Helen seeming like a giant

I've read way more translated non-English books than authentically English books

I liked Stephen King in my early teens

After Spengler i'd like to get into the philosophy and history of aesthetics but i don't know where to start. Preferably more conservative writers because i read Adorno a long time ago and it almost killed me.

Busted a fatty to "Nausicaa" once

"she leaned back
and the garters were blue to match on account of the transparent and they all
saw it and shouted to look, look there it was and she leaned back ever so far
to see the fireworks and something queer was flying about through the air, a
soft thing to and fro, dark. And she saw a long Roman candle going up over
the trees up, up, and, in the tense hush, they were all breathless with excitement
as it went higher and higher and she had to lean back more and more to
look up after it, high, high, almost out of sight, and her face was suffused with
a divine, an entrancing blush from straining back and he could see her other
things too, nainsook knickers, the fabric that caresses the skin"

Edmund Burke......................

That's not a sin. Lord of the Rings was one of the most insufferable pieces of literature I've ever attempted to force myself to endure. Fuck Frodo man.
Hobbit was good fun as a kid tho

It cab take me upwards of one hour to read and re-read Kant's works and still don't understand shit he is saying. I realy, realy, realy hate Kant.

Do you wanna try that again?

Wait till you start with Hegel

My ability to focus, reading speed, and ability to retain the information I just read have all substantially worsened over the years. I have major sleep deprivation and other issues, but I believe not actually reading anything outside of textbooks in years is a major factor as well. I haven't sat and read a book since high school. I graduated high school about 6 years ago.

Burke isn't really into Aesthetics, is he?

Same la, don't be embarrassed

Why don’t you? If you have time to be on here, you have time to read :)

that's bulshit user. I'm sure you're on this site several hours a month, and guess what ? you're reading all this time. Grab ONE (1) book you already know you like and start reading the first 10 pages.
-ability to focus an retain information is not necessary in action/ adventure novels.
-reading speed is irrelevant. nobody will be judging you for that.

Same. forced myself through the first and didn't make it past the first chapter on the Two Towers.

Have you read Thomas Harris' other Hannibal books? Both Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs are dank reads.

Then try different books. Don't take the Veeky Forums required readings meme too seriously.

Bad sleep, shitty nutrition, and lots of internet all make it really hard to read. You can do it, you just don't want to

this is the last man

I th-thought I was the only one. I used to love fantasy as a kid, but reading this recently, I couldn't get through it

>You just don't want to
Nah, senpai. I want to. Shit's hard. Bought an ereader recently, so I can read at night, though. That's pretty much the only time that I can. Even got a couple VNs recently, and I never play those.
I have a lot of studying to do, so I'll have to get back into the hang of reading regularly. I'm trying.
Reading bullshit on here requires little to no focus at all. Having a noisy environment, full of distractions, is no problem. If I'm distracted while reading a book, it'll take at least 5-10 minutes for to get focused again.
