I was actually looking to purchase pic related. B&N had yours, along with this one, and the new Lenin book. Any recommendations or should I stay away?
I've just finished with Kotkin's Stalin and it's pretty much the definitive history of his life. Slow, dry, but ultimately quite good from a historical and historiographical perspective. Kotkin is a pretty standard neoliberal, but he approaches the history with a respect that you typically don't see often, and he doesn't take the pop history "he was beaten by his father" or "he was a sexual deviant" way of explaining Stalin like a lot of others have.
I'm only just starting the Lenin, but Kotkin gets a def recc from me.
Me neither. I mean I kind of like the idea, but I'm waiting for someone more opinionated to post and probably thrash you so that I can rally behind them and call you a retard in good conscience, once again having reassured myself of my intellectual superiority.
Stalin was VERY photogenic. Is there even a bad picture of Stalin somewhere?
>(((kotkin(((
yeah nah
did you read the 2nd volume?
>cover by Plato
>the new Lenin book
