They look like collected VHS tapes.

The local 2nd and Charles has an entire table stacked like that. Plus, one next to it filled with the GoT books. A high turnover rate it seems.

Second and Charles has some cool used books sometimes but the fact that I have to give money to a store whose profits mostly come from shit like Funko Pops depresses me every time I go

Do those even sell? The shelves seem overstocked with them everytime I go.

All those editions look like shit desu

i have that set on my bookshelf. the one that came out with the first hobbit movie.
classics always sell

They sell in massive numbers to that ever-growing population of people who fell for the fetishization of nerd culture and need to surround themselves with symbols and characters from videogames or comics or movies on everything they own. It makes no sense to me but I know droves of these people.

patrician's choice edition reporting in

Best covers.
Based off of Tolkien's original cover ideas and his own sketches.

You know exactly what you did. Now your gonna pay.

Got these gems from a used bookstore.

You mean children?

why wouldn't you just buy like the Folio Society editions or something?

I had the edition with the tower on the spine as a kid and got rid of it because fuck movie tie-in covers.

Yes, immensely well. It's why game stores, book stores, multimedia stores always have shelves full of them. It's a little like beanie babies back in the 90s, stores are ordering them by the fuck load because right now it's hot shit but they're not worth much especially when they're so massively produced so eventually people will stop buying them.

I kinda dig that Funko has a figure for almost every single fucking thing, but I don't dig the big-head and dead black eyes thing so I've never bought one. It's a shame because I want a Miku that isn't a fortune.

My edition, single volume. Partially a convenience to have each book in a single volume but it is a chunky 1000+ pages.

I fucking love door stopping 1000+ page tomes.

Does anyone else carry around Tolkien books in a home-made Tolkien briefcase?

Nope.

I have a volume edition with appendices, can't even find it anywhere online. It was my dad's copy and I abused it in my schoolbag growing up so the covers have almost completely fallen apart.

Best set coming through

>no Hobbit
>no Silma
>no Children

castration might be a better choice.

I have that Hobbit, love the feel of it. I'll have to order the rest of the set now that I know it exists.

Here’s my door stopper.
