This video is one of the worst examples of historical revisionism I have ever seen. The author has intended to look at history solely to advance his own agenda in blatant and patently false ways. The saddest irony of this video is that there is not anything inherently wrong with the author's agenda, but the evidence and logic used to advance it is garbage. As a result, I feel torn because I am inclined to both defend and attack the author at the same time.

To start with, let's start with the author's initial claim. The author states that we often hear we must pay for the alleged wrongdoings of our Imperial past by accepting multiculturalism and immigration. He argues against white guilt and in favor of white pride. My perspective is that the author can freely advance all of these arguments without needing to falsify or obfuscate history in the process. For example, he could use the logical argument that the descendants of colonialism are not responsible for whatever alleged sins their ancestors committed. He could state that blaming an entire race for the actions of some within it is in a sense a form of racism. He could give reasons to have pride in the white race based on its various achievements. He could denounce white guilt and "white privilege" because of its various internal contradictions. The author's refusal to apologize for "who we are" is not inherently flawed because the author could argue that he did not personally involve himself in any of the supposed sins of his ancestors, ergo why should he or any other white person have to apologize? He could argue, as he did, that this is a form of overcompensation for the historical past which ultimately leads to bad policy making.

If the author had simply decided to stick to that claim without reviewing and revising much of history to suit it, I would have agreed entirely with the video. But then the author delves into pure fantasy, conspiracy theory and outright nonsense historical claims.

The first historical argument the author makes is that he is not sorry for colonialism because Africans (only Africans as shown in the video) are essentially incapable of self-government. According to the author, all Africans have ever produced on their own is poverty, dictatorship, civil war and calamity. The author does not give specific examples or review counterexamples or nuances in this argument, making it entirely disingenuous. For example, Botswana did spectacularly well in the postcolonial period (presently) and has had excellent economic growth with diamond mining being its major industry. Botswana's economy is not perfect as there is high unemployment and a lack of diversification, but none of the author's claims apply to it. Other countries in the North of Africa or along coastal perimeters meet some of the author's criteria but not all, and in many cases have contributed positively to the world. Ethiopia for instance is one of the world's top coffee exporters. Outside of this, the author does not address colonialism or its negative effects anywhere else in the world (e.g. in Asia or in the Americas), nor does he address the actual effects of colonialism or the people under it. I'd say that the author was cherrypicking except he barely gives any specific examples of anything throughout the entire video. His references to Africa, and only Africa, are extremely vague aside from namedropping Robert Mugabe.

To the charges that whites practiced slavery and that slavery is wrong, the author seemingly pleads nolo contendere. His argument hinges on the the overgeneralized argument that every race practiced slavery in one form or another. While saying this, the author only mentions a few and he is probably not correct in his sweeping and generalized claim. He is certainly right, though, that other races of people practiced slavery and sometimes to a greater extent, but this argument is essentially a red herring. It does not somehow absolve white people from having committed slavery nor does it justify the act itself. Additionally, to lump the ancestors of modern Africans or Arabs who committed slavery with the descendants of slaves in the Americas is fairly disingenuous. Once again the author has chosen to ignore Asia as well as the Americas because the author's entire conception of history is simplistic and avoids any kind of nuance.

The author argues that under white rule third world countries had a higher standard of living than they could ever produce on their own. As usual he does not give a single specific example, let alone the several examples that would be necessary, in order to prove this sweeping claim. Once again he only discusses Africa.

The applicant states that he is not sorry for the crusades because his ancestors fought to bravely drive Islam out of Europe. To this I ask which crusades he is referring to? Certainly he is not talking about the First or Third Crusades in which Europe went on the offensive in the Middle East, the Albigensian Crusade aimed at eliminating heretic religious beliefs in France or the 4th Crusade which became a convenient excuse to pillage the defunct Byzantine Empire and sack Constantinople. The author has conveniently misled viewers into believing the crusades were aimed at stopping Islamic expansion into Europe when in many cases this was neither the legitimization nor goal of the Crusades, particularly the most famous ones. This is anachronism at its finest, with the author choosing a modern issue and projecting it back into the past falsely.

The author states that he is not sorry for Imperialism and this is probably his best argument because he argues, correctly and with specific examples (finally), other cases of Imperialism. He then makes an argument that Imperialism is not wrong inherently and that whites were simply the best Imperialists in modern times. The author then argues that the excesses of Imperialism in any case do not justify recent immigration policy, a point on which I agree.

After having finally made a good point, the author then has to compensate with an atrocious one. He states that he is not sorry for the Holocaust and labels it as a hoax, offering no real evidence to prove his case on this matter. Instead he shows three pictures on the screen briefly with no source and tangential links to the issue. By making the assertion with such poor evidence, he has already negated his logical appeal. His next argument that the Jews murdered 30 million of "his people" in Eastern Europe is vague and predicated on fallacy. I assume that it is a reference to the Holodomor since he mentions Soviet commissars. His decision to equate Soviet commissars with Jews is silly because while many Jews were Soviets at the time, not all Soviets were Jews. To blame a Soviet and Communist mismanagement project purely on Jews is nonsense. Molotov, one of the principal figures in the event, was not a Jew for example, and neither was Stalin. For the record, Molotov did have a Jewish wife. Lenin was not Jewish either although some have claimed that one of his grandparents was. Realistically, there are probably many gentiles who have a Jewish ancestor at some point in history. It does not make them Jews. I will say that Trotsky and some of the other names he drops in the video were absolutely detestable individuals and all of them were fully Jewish (except religiously) to the best of my knowledge (except Lenin). The idea that this was part of some Jewish conspiracy to deliberately murder white people is, however, absurd.

On Israel the author is vague in many parts, so I am not sure if I agree with him or not. The regime in Israel has absolutely committed many wrongs, though many of the immigration issues that Europe now faces has nothing to do with Israel. The attempt to link the two makes little sense in light of this. He is correct that Israel's actions vis-a-vis the Palestinian people, though, did raise distrust toward the West which supported Israel.

History as deployed to advance an agenda, whether consciously (in this case for certain) or unconsciously, is probably more common than we would like to admit. A lot of historians accept that people cannot be fully objective and that there is at least some degree of relativity in history. It has been argued that historians bringing certain frames of reference into any kind of analysis.

However, this does not mean that we should accept blatant falsehoods and spurious arguments that lack evidence. It does not mean that we should deliberately employ history for the purpose of advancing a political agenda for either the right or for the left. If the author wants to conclude that whites should not have to apologize for anything, that whites should not have guilt and that there is no flaw with white pride, he is more than free to do so. In fact, I agree with all of those arguments personally given effective logical appeals to back them. I just wish the author had not dragged history through the mud in his efforts.
