I loved it at first. The idea seemed so novel and I had fun reading all the comments about the countries and how historical aspects of the country would be examined through Japanese culture and how that'd translate into Hetalia. The Japanese certainly have a different view of themselves and world, pretty interesting. However, once you get too deep into it, the "personalities" of the characters trump over the country stereotypes and history and then you see just how one dimensional the story is. Had they took a more masculine stance and stuck with mocking country stereotypes it would've been more fun, but they instead to take the gay route to appeal to women.

No, not really. There isn't really an "end" nor do the episodes go in chronological order. They are just skits thrown around to make an episode. Even if there was an end they wouldn't cut germany in half. Russia would just take Prussia (who still exists for some reason even after being dissolved. Never explained btw) who personifies the east of germany and the allies would take the blonde germany who alternates in personifying all of germany and only west germany. Weirdly enough there has been fanfiction pairing the two together, which is disgusting
