What's better; a mixture of armor and crystal, or pure crystal?
Lucas Collins
Is that supposed to be a ranking of governments?
James King
not there user, it's a fix for the mod in 1.1
Lucas Wilson
So how do you pick the planets you colonize? Do you spread sectors around until you find a decently sized one or do you just use them to expand your influence?
Angel Lopez
>sectors I meant space stations
Alexander Myers
That doesn't make sense either
Noah Williams
>space stations You mean Frontier Outposts, right? You use them to claim systems with nice station wealth but no habitable/worthwhile colonizable planets, and to prevent the AI from settling systems you cant settle just yet because raisins
Kayden Ortiz
Right but what about planets that have a lot of pop space and their systems are rich in resources, do you build outposts until you reach it or do you just go ahead and colonize it? Because the second options sounds too risky, and turning it into a sector would defeat the whole point
Isaac Phillips
>turning it into a sector would defeat the whole point What?
Sebastian Diaz
You get less resources and the AI won't manage it properly.
Xavier Ross
Why don't you start from the very beginning and try to not ramble.
Isaac Young
Sooo, how do i stop a construction in progress? I changed my mind about a frontier outpost, but cant for the life of me convince that fuck to stop building it.
Also, i jsut killed then purged 4 of my neighbours (2 of which advanced started) and vassalized 1 of them, securing myself a fuckhuge area to blob and having a meaty army before even the 2250 mark. Is there even a point to continue?
Got that burried weapon event and the particle lance weapon before i even had destroyers.
Daniel Brooks
>Sooo, how do i stop a construction in progress? >I changed my mind about a frontier outpost, but cant for the life of me convince that fuck to stop building it. Select the unit. Look at the top left of the units selection box. There's a stop sign there. Hover over it and you'll see a popup saying "Stop". Click it and it stops doing what it was doing. Unless it is in ftl.

glitch causes ALL of the systems that I own with planets I have colonised to lose border status and fall under the nearest empire's space.
doesn't happen to non-colonised systems
pure ass rip my sectors

>big ones to avoid the +10% research cost per planet >after hitting the planet cap. Can also make a building queue before handing it out to sectors >colonize it anyway, unless it's far enough that I wouldn't be able to reach it without unlikely border treaties. If I simple haven't expanded there yet, I do it because the AI is not aggressive enough to cut me off
Samuel Howard
>What is your usual criteria for picking planets to colonize and keep in your empire? Early game I've colonized in a manner that increases and pushes my borders. If I am 5 in the numpad. I may put frontier outposts on 3+9, and colonize 7-1. Maybe further away just to get closer to alien borders. Basically walling off space for myself.
Large planets, and good modifiers have priorities. Stone Age Primitves have a high priority.
>When do you turn colonized planets into Sectors? When they're fully built I sector them off. Or if I am in a position where I want to colonize more worlds than my core limit I sector off lower priority planets temporarily, so I can work on more important ones.
>>What do you usually do if a colonizable planet with abundant resources in it and around it is away from you, do you go ahead and colonize it anyways, taking the risk of being cut off, or do you build up your way to it with Frontier Outposts? If I feel very confident in my navy I do it. Long term I try to connect it with other planets.
Wyatt Russell
What's everyone's planets specialisations like? Care to share?
Chase Hughes
>Can also make a building queue before handing it out to sectors Yeah that's a good tip, been doing that a lot.
Isaac Cook
desu I don't feel much need to specialize. I only do it in planets with modifiers, otherwise I just build the tile's resource, and build labs on the rest
Sebastian Turner
>he doesn't assimilate new races into his empire, force them to adopt his ethics, and split races into different sectors
Hunter Hughes
>force them to adopt his ethics How?
Elijah Mitchell
I am thinking about making labs cost 2times more to maintain, and energy plant to consume minerals. Maybe make some special buildings for resource produced tiles so they are more efficient/cost less to maintain. Thought anons?
Levi Foster
Have negative ethics divergence. I'm putting an orbital mind control laser on every space port, which has a whopping -30% ethics divergence.
Also, my happiness is maxed out in most planets, which reduces ethics divergence even more.
Brayden James
is there a segregation mod that lets you force sectors to not grow pops of different species?
Liam Morris
>minerals require energy to produce >energy requires minerals to produce Desu this sounds terrible and confusing. Might also cause a very hard hole to climb from if you run out of one of them
Special production buildings sound good though, the current ones are too linear
Hunter Powell
1st way(direct): >conquer >use all -ethic divergence(being collectivist help). >wait it take time 2nd way(slow) >liberate >it make them adopt your ethics >their new goverment start converting pops to your ethics >diplo or force vassalise >wait until pops is converted >integrate
Robert Brown
pls respong I want the cheevos
Brandon Wood
You could always forbid any migration. Only pops already on the planet will grow.
Ian Collins
Energy station need 1 mineral but produce 3 energy(more when better). But yeah it could make some shortages in begging. I was think more about countering energy abundance after early stage. Reducing planet science penalty to 5% and increasing pop penalty to 2%?

Mason Diaz
>and energy plant to consume minerals I think someone did that like 20 threads ago.
I'm thinking about how you can split up minerals into more types to encourage trade and make the need for different resources more interesting.
Not sure what I'd split mineral into yet though. like Mineral, Gold and Copper for example. Where you need minerals for most things, but then maybe powerplants take some copper to build.
Matthew Ross
I have the same. Probably yes. Bravo Parasocks!
Julian Smith
GIB RIGHTS GIB RIGHTS GIB RIGHTS GIB GIB GIB GIB GIB GIB
Julian Wood
minerals could simply be split in rare minerals and generic more abundant minerals. Rare minerals wouldn't be as rare as strategic resources but they wouldn't be as widespread as generic minerals. Basic level power plants and stuff could only require generic minerals but more advanced stuff could then require some rare minerals.
Jason Morris
Ofcourse it is. They just intercept LOGH audition. Make them honorary junkers.
Oliver Cox
Either turn them into a vassal or annex them and give them their own sector.
Charles Peterson
Actually great idea. Splitting minerals into Minerals and Fuel(for energy plants). Basic energy plants could be cheap and with no need of fuel but better need Fuel(radioactive minerals or something).
Grayson Phillips
I just communicated with them, they said something to the effect that the best parts of their society came from cultural exchange. It's settled then, they culturally appropriated me
Aaron Ross

Can someone tell me if the Unbidden were supposed to present a threat?
I just sort of rolled over them without any major losses, my fleet was pretty small too(200cap @2390)
Alexander Davis
Power Plant, if you place them on a tile that is already producing energy, it costs no fuel. The logic is that the tile with natural energy is a good spot for terrestial energy plant. Like geothermal. Otherwise the power plant is something else like fusion or whatever and requires some sort of fuel.
Instead of Mineral and Energy. You have Mineral, Rare Mineral, Ore, Fuel, Energy.
Power Plants that aren't placed on energy tiles, use fuel to run.
Power Plants cost mostly Mineral to build, and a bit of Rare Mineral.
Corvettes take basically just mineral. Battleships may take a lot of ore. Crystal Hull takes a lot of rare minerals.

Someone mentioned this in the old thread but it's been pruned.
>Partially related, but i kinda wish early space-age civs had primite rocket science ships going around the space system, and maybe a small fleet of basic tech corvetes with no FTL
Paradox will have a DLC all about primitive civilizations. They did it with pagans and republics in CK2. They release it with basic content and take their sweet swedish time to expand on them. The Heinlein update states they will add little civilian ship moving around in orbit and between planets. In addition, civs about to advance to space age create a primitive space station. It serves no purpose and doesn't appear to have modules or build ships.
Luis Fisher

It'll be nice when they add more wargoals and such. Fanatic xenophobes should be able to glass planets in war.

Sadly there were not a good game at last 4x in the last decade. I still play first Master of Orion(best 4x ever) and OpenXCom(great mods) and SMAC of course. I tried GalCiv but I only like first part, 2nd is boring and plain, and 3th is just terrible. Endless Space is boring again but I actually like it. Its very polished but its like solid craft not something with a soul. We will see what they do with 2nd part. Sword of the Stars is actually decent. Its kinda dumb down version of Master of Orion but with tacticool battles(clunky but playable). SotS II was a fucking disaster - it was so terrible actually force Paradox to start fund Quality control. The new MoO is still in the making. Its kinda promising but I don't have great expectations. There is a Remnants of the precursors which is 1;1 remake of 1st Master of Orion but with better UI, AI and more custom options. Its made by one guy for free. Alpha was released like 2 days ago but full version next year. Overall I don't see any AAA or even BB title to even get close to MoO. I can't even play 2nd part after I played 1st.
Michael Sanchez

But the last update I get hands on was enjoyable. Its not bad if you don't expect too much. Thing is plenty of things still not work. We will see how much crap it is when its done but I notice that they try to polish it hard.

I agree. HoMM stack combat is better for actual Empire combat(but it would be nice to divide the stacks). Also tech system is I think the best I ever meet. Its kinda silly. I enjoy original MoO cartoon races but they go to far. Its kinda hard to treat them seriously when in MoO they have more weight.

>Its kinda silly. I enjoy original MoO cartoon races but they go to far. Its kinda hard to treat them seriously when in MoO they have more weight.
I think it's an advantage of lower graphics. There's a higher level of interpretation due to the poor graphics, so we percieve the very best vision for us, but then when the graphics are improved we see that it isn't that specific vision we had in mind.
Eli Evans
>When I last time check it it has no AI and no tech tree. How long ago was that? I playing it 3 years ago and it had both.

True. It have limited animation but changes in music and light along with good text make great impressions. You could feel change in their mood, simply great and well done(or just just me).
