98 z28

I'm REALLY tempted, Veeky Forums LS1 z28 t top, 168k km for 7500$. Seems to be in condition. But, and this is the big one, how much money will it take to make it turn?

It can already turn; don't fall for the "F-body can't turn" meme. It can lap out most cars in it's price range.

But it actually can't, even the z28 forum said if you want a road track car you need all new suspension setup

good meme

If you want a road track car on 99 percent of consumer vehicles out there you would need an all new suspension setup

Depends; some cars came with an upgraded suspension set-up from the factory that gives you a pretty decent competitive edge. Check your RPO codes on that thing.

Ok so how do I identify it

Is there a sticker on the inside of the drivers side door sill? Take a picture, report back.

Well I'm going to check it out tomorrow, what's the package called? Track package? I don't imagine it'll stick around for long this is a door deal

but still for 7500 thats probably the fastest car you can get.

>how much money will it take to make it turn?
My buddy has one, they are big ass cars man. I can't really imagine making it turn. That said there are tons of aftermarket parts out there to build up anything you can ever imagine.

Auto tranny kinda sucks tho. Most people just take these to the strip.

It's manual 6spd, that's the only reason I'm contemplating it

In that case do it. New tires, shocks/springs should get you to a pretty good place. My buddy's Trans Am has that and its pretty dece. He is actually the one that forced me to buy a faster and better handling car as I got sick of him bragging.

You are going to want to remove the weird shift lock out these cars have. At low RPM they will make you shift 1-4 instead of 1-2 for fuel mileage.

Good luck man, do it. If they weren't so big I'd consider one myself. Build quality is actually decent considering GM. Huge pita tho is you have to drop the engine from the bottom, but the one time my friend did it he said it wasn't too horrible.

That's marginally less than what I paid for my terminator

You got a supercharged SVT in burgerland for that much?

How many miles tho?

There are several option codes. F41 is the firm ride suspension. Fe7 is the heavy duty suspension. Fe2 is the handling suspension. Fe4 is the special handling suspension. It will be on a white sticker with many other alphanumeric option codes. This sticker will also tell you what rear end you have if you decode it.

1LE (so exceedingly rare you probably won't find one)

SS/WS6 package also has Bilsteins

so can mr2s

and just like a mr2 they're not easy to drive fast. very vague and the car feels bigger than it actually is.

great street cars but if you want a turn car get a miata or a bmw.

>very vague and the car feels bigger than it actually is
best summary of the handling characteristics of an F body ever. there is just nothing redeeming except the engine and the goat aftermarket.

Wow, is this for real? I always thought on mass production cars there was like a regular setup, and a track pack, and you were done.

All this shit is true of all muscle cars. You just try not to die in the corners and then make it up in the straights. Not enough straights? Don't bother to race it. Toe-gay? Maybe uphill. Maybe.

Not really, new age muscle cars are all about both

Its for reals, man.

If your "muscle car" doesn't have enough muscle to kill you in the corners if you don't reign it in then it's not a muscle car. I sincerely doubt hellcats are scoring big on the old skid pads.

Cmon man. Hell cats are green light boomer mobiles

>buying a used muscle/sports car
>ever

Haha okay guy what do you recommend

Brand new, poorfag, I'm getting a new 2016 V8 Camaro myself

>he's spent years saving
>to get a Camaro

So in the end you sound salty as fuck that op can buy a car out right and you're paying sheckles every month

Aw neat, the ultimate mom sports car

>how much money will it take to make it turn?

The price of a different car

Not really, 2-3k for track ready coil overs, sway bars, grippy tires and aggressive alignment. All under 4k.
