In high school, my electronics teacher said that if you had to defend yourself on your property, then you should make sure they are dead. China has long been a land where to get to the top, you have to lack ethics. In a land of ruthlessness, ethics is considered to be an achilles heel. So it's a simple situation of Pay Forever or only pay a smaller amount (or none if you have political power).

If the USA had similar penalties, there would be a LOT more deaths of witnesses too. For example, last year in my area, a witness was spared by the black robber since he didn't want to kill her. So he merely dug his fingers into both her eyes to blind her. She can't ID him now. as she was the only one to see his face as all store cameras had bad high angles which his hoodie and baseball cap stopped any good view of his face. Black Lives Matter. The part about right and wrong doesn't matter in that case because that is not the motivation for performing the killing. So, is it possible to ignore the political issues of right and wrong? In both cases, at the moment of decision, the person with the weapon chose to kill the target in order to prevent perceived harm to themselves and their family. As for defending one's property, defending your home or defending your huge wealth are fairly similar things.
