Iconic soldiers

I wanted to make a list of the most iconic soldiers for each century (for European history mostly) and was wondering if /pol/ could help me out with that. That's how far I've come:

1. Roman legionary
2. ?? because i want to avoid repetition
3. Cataphract maybe?
4. Hunnic horse-archer
5. ?? Barbarians?
6. ??
7. ??
8. ??
9. Vikings
10. Frankish knights
11. Crusaders
12. Knight order (repetition?)
13. Mongol horse-archer
14. Swiss halberdiers?
15. British longbowmen
16. Landsknecht
17. Polish winged hussar
18. Red coats
19. Napoleonic infantry
20. Wehrmacht soldier
21. US Marines (till now)

the old guard is very iconic

Motherfucking Byzantine cataphracts

IMO Matejko always does based paintings

Jaguars bitch. Coolest looking soldiers in the Aztec army. You needed to take 4 live captives in battle to achieve this rank. They wore heavy padded armor underneath a thick cloth suit. Used obsidian lined swords with blades so sharp they could shave with them.

No musketeers?

That't my fursona

Russian Boyar regiments
Bohemian battle wagons
Serbian Gusars

sandnigger with ak-47

It's pretty much the main image i assiociate with modern warfare

More like savage criminals.

Good fucking luck.

>4. Hunnic horse-archer
This should really be 5
>14. Swiss halberdiers?
>15. British longbowmen
Switch these two.
16. Tercios
21. USAF or one of the american special fairies are way more representative of the 21st century dude

this picture confuses me. I thought the Swedes ended up as bodyguards to the Byzantine emperors. did they fight the Byzantines before/after this happened?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Constantinople_(860)

in case the first one runs out of ammo idiot

This is before the Rurikid dynasty was slavicized, pre-Sviatoslav era.

Varangian guard? Naked warriors from Gaul? Scottish highlanders Gibson-style? Tall Prussian grenadiers? Conquistadors? Rbonze age chariot archers?

There are both experts at PR and not much else.

Post world war it would be best to put 'revelutionaries' as with the odd exception they are who people have been fighting most. Good luck trying to find a single image for that.

Or an f16

> i sweah judge iv waz just following orders!
