American Dictatorism

ITT: The closest the US had to dictators or dictatorships.

Remember: nothing after the current date in 1991.

God dam you are bloody retarded Im not even a Yank and I know that all he did was start a wild goose chase that turned up nothing.

If you want a modern example of a man who could of ended democracy in America in modern times look no further than pic fucking related.

>God dam you are bloody retarded Im not even a Yank and I know that all he did was start a wild goose chase that turned up nothing.
And ruined people's lives in the process.

FDR. For better or for worse

>And ruined people's lives in the process.

Ruining lives (or careers to be more accurate) doesnt make a person a dictator you nonce.

Being a politically leader who goes to extreme lengths to ruin the careers and lives of people you disagree with, find threatening, or subscribe to an ideology you hold immense bigotry towards is nothing short of tyranny and corruption.

Are you mixing him up with this dude?

Like the ol' FDR locking up Tojo's?

I don't know if FDR himself can be the sole blame for that. But sending people of an ethnic group to internment camps is another example of tyranny and dictatorship.

Nice reading comprehension skills mate = being corrupt o simply labeling someone as something unpopular doesnt make you a dictator.

By your definition every single president who has been involved in a war, conflict, labour dispute ect are classified as dictators

Indeed if you are willing to classify a senator as a dictator this number balloons even more, suddenly the US becomes a nation with hundreds of dictators.

He would've made for a swell Napoleonesque dictator.

>By your definition every single president who has been involved in a war, conflict, labour dispute ect are classified as dictators
If they were directly involved with them, they might as well be considered as such.

>Indeed if you are willing to classify a senator as a dictator this number balloons even more, suddenly the US becomes a nation with hundreds of dictators.
Modern US politics certainly gives that impression.

>If they were directly involved with them, they might as well be considered as such.

I cant believe it you've diluted the term dictator more than Macarthy diluted the term communist spy.

>Modern US politics certainly gives that impression.

All politics gives that impression. You think the US and them mentality is something that just popped up in the past 100 years?

>You think the US and them mentality is something that just popped up in the past 100 years?
No, but it's just as relevant and inexcusable to US culture.

>No, but it's just as relevant and inexcusable to US culture.

A nice sentiment but no reason to destroy words for their emotive appeal

I would say Shillary come Nov, but nothing after 1991

Being a corrupt dickhead doesn't make you a dictator, you retarded cunt.

This is Veeky Forums Veeky Forums, 'nuance' and 'meaning' are bad words here.

>Commies spend the 1950s murdering literally millions of people.
>McCarthy outs mostly actual ex CPUSA members as being, well, CPUSA members.
>OMG the horror McCarthyism wtf was his problem America was so evil in the 50s.

Right fucking now. Obama opened up a vacuum for Clinton and lesser politicians like her to exploit the government's power like never before

dude /pol/ lmao

FDR

Threadly reminder that McCarthy was mostly right and was nowhere near as bad as he's painted out to be.

...

I also like how it went from
>dude what the fuck they weren't commies he was just paranoid
to
>yeah they were communist leaning but they weren't active ones
to finally
>fuck yeah they were commies! so what?

>Down with King George!
>Long live King George!

>t. the philosopher of monticello

>And ruined people's lives
Commie's aren't people, Che.

i'd like a source on the great chimp for saying that
and lemme guess:
it was taken out of context
fuck off and die republiCAN'T

William Dudley Pelley, leader of the Silver Legion of America. This guy was full Neo-Nazi. Pre-WWII during the rise of Hitler, he was behind him all the way. We'd witnessed the Red October Revolution and the Russian Civil War with his own eyes and blamed all the carnage on the Jews and the communists. He even ran for president in 1936. One of the closest things we've gotten to an American Fascist Empire.

he was a nasty controlling fucker but that's an incredibly liberal use of the term dictator

You know, he was right most of the time.

>most of the time
AFAIK he was never wrong.

MacArthur almost overthrew the president.

Nah he got one or two wrong but the rest were fucking spot on, commies are still butthurt that he did his job and talk shit about him

It's really too bad that Smedley Butler outed the whole thing. Things would have been so much better

He thought it would be a good idea to invade China, yanks couldn't even cope wit Vietname - they would be anally raped with China

If you cast a net wide enough you can catch any fish you desire. Granted you'll end up catching many other creatures in that net and many marine life will get caught and die.

So it's just a coincidence nearly all of the guys he caught turned out to be communists, some of them soviet agents?

God bless Joe McCarthy

>nuclear war in Korea
>better
The soviets and Chinese would've done us in.

MacArthur was going to overthrow FDR who had been dead for nearly half a decade when Korea kicked off you ignorant mong.

Chinese didn't have nukes at that point, and the soviets wouldn't pull that shit over literally whoo gooks

>McCarthy apologists
Why do they even exist?

>Why do they even exist
Because the Venona Papers proved him correct

The answer is FDR (3 terms), Andrew Jackson (told the courts to get fucked), and Lincoln (post civil war).

>ugh fucking conservatives why can't they just let the Soviets steal all their info I mean c'mon it's 1950

Add Washington to the list

That depends on if you consider the Tojos American. I don't know the details - how many were citizens?

Because if they were, then it was certainly tyranny.

>ITT we pretend the Vernona Papers never existed and McCarthy did anything wrong

He had a list claiming he had a list of 205 names of literal memebers of the communist party of the USA working in the state department.

Show one such spy discovered by him, just one.

Considering his methods were shoddy as fuck and not backed by evidence. All the efforts to find Communist sympathizers were the efforts of the American government and it's organizations.

Some were but democrats won't admit it unless pressed too

Alger Hiss
So what, he just blindly got them all?

You know the Soviets came out and said it was far worse then McCarthy even knew, right?

You aren't completely and totally ignorant of all recent history?

>Show one such spy discovered by him, just one.
Solomon Adler

>Alger Hiss
Happened 2 years before Macarthy discovered his "list" and was reavealed by an ex communist who reported him to the House Un-American Activities Committee who then prosecuted. Macarthy had nothing to do with this body.

>You aren't completely and totally ignorant of all recent history?

Says the person who cannot list one person discovered from Macarthies constantly changing but never revealed list or discovered by his subcommittee.

You act as though he was the only person investigating communist espionage which is just plain false

>Solomon Adler
Wasn't discovered by Macarthy or his subcommittee along with those 205 then 268 then 52 people on his list. He was discovered as early as 1948 and was effectively exiled.

So unless Macarthy had a time machine you still have failed to produce one person

Probably Obama

...

Google it, idiot.
He was promoting Feinstein's "assault weapons" ban.

Still waiting for one spy in the state department discovered by Macarthys committe

All of these individuals worked for the U.S. government and all were named by McCarthy as communist.

>muh 100 billion trillion!!!!!!!
>repression is ok when we do it!!

Suharto pls

objectively speaking:

>FDR
could have won indefinitely if he hadn't died/22nd amendment hadn't been passed
>Ford
only president who wasn't actually elected

>As if McCarthy was a bad thing

He literally got rid of retards that would wish ill upon our country. Such as you, OP, and I'm willing to bet the replies I'll get are going to be from fags wanting to defend the "victims" of the Red Scare.

If he was around during Hitler then he's not a neo-Nazi.

>One of the closest things we've gotten to an American Fascist Empire.
You might as well point to literally any of the other Fascist candidates for president.

Him and FDR are the closest I would say, it really amazes me how the government allowed Hoover to grasp so much power.

>fuck off and die republiCAN'T
[triggered]

If we're counting states, Huey Long in Louisiana basically ran the state like a quasi-socialist dictatorship. He's a really fucking interesting guy.

The Business Plot was nothing more than one guy's wild LARPing, another guy's paranoid delusions based on him being jaded about his military experiences and a bunch of other people going "yeah, fuck Roosevelt". It existed in only the loosest sense of the term and at no point was the US in danger of being overthrown in a fascist military coup.

I think Huey Long's anti-democratic credentials have been overblown. Don't get me wrong, he was corrupt and powerhungry as all fuck, but that happened before and it happened again. He just happened to also ruffle feathers.

For example, I don't think his opposition, which hired fucking panamanian mercenaries to settle a legal dispute with him were exactly on the side of rule of law either.

>CIA warns MacArthur China might attack
>MacArthur disperses troops even more because HOME IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS GUYS

>CIA warns MacArthur that Chinese troops are crossing the Yalu River and have already shown up in skirmishes
>MacArthur flies his personal airliner over the border, doesn't see any Chinamen when he looks out the window, declares there are no Chinamen at all, flies to Japan and awards himself the Distinguished Flying Cross and honorary combat wings, the Chinese (having hidden under trees) attack the next day

>The Entire U.S. Marine Corp gets cut off and encircled.
>Orders them to launch an offensive.

Well none of those individuals were part of the state department which is what he originally claimed in his list this is a very good response that I havent seen come up before. Its a shame characters like these werent the bulk of his investigations and actions and that the wikiepdia pages dont tie them in to his investigations.
>en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Mins

Thats quite a curious one, I havent been able to find any info on this, did he get prosecuted for espionage?

Any good books to check out on him?
I find him fascinating too.

>ideology you hold immense bigotry towards
Bigotry means ignorance.
There's no bigotry in realizing commies are cancer.

While FDR came close I think he's a primary reason why Long didn't ascend to dictatorship, so maybe his overwhelming power (in that regard) could be seen as anti-dictatorial.

The only book I read on him was Kingfish. It was alright, well written without doubt, but I felt the bias was overwhelmingly anti-Long. Long did a bunch of really good things which the author seemed to gloss over.

As an aside everyone should look up a video of Long. His oratorical skills rank among the top of all people and he makes Obama (even in his prime) look like a stuttering Neanderthal.

Kek you autist, all he did was help his state. He didnt try to be a dictator at all.

Edgy teens who have skimmed through his Wikipedia page

>Bigotry means ignorance

big·ot·ry
ˈbiɡətrē/
noun
intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself.

Not even that guy, not even pro-commie, just pro-bullshit-calling.

This is grade A autism.

>He even ran for president in 1936. One of the closest things we've gotten to an American Fascist Empire.

You seem to be under the impression that the presidient of the United States is an all powerful appointment and not one that needs collaboration with the legistative and judicial branches of government.

There's many more than the ones I listed. There's a PhD who works for the Library of Congress, James Earl Haynes. He specializes in McCarthyism. He took those accused by McCarthy and put them up against the Venona Papers and 9 were dead to rights, and 100 more were named security risks. Iirc it's up on his website.

>This guy was full Neo-Nazi
>William Dudley Pelley (March 12, 1890 – June 30, 1965)

No, he was not a neo-Nazi. Nothing Neo about it at that point. Dude was an OG, full on Nazi.

...

But McCarthy was right, in fact he probably underestimated the communist infiltration.

What are your thoughts on him overall? Were the people he exposed worth the collateral damage (to them and himself)?

>and Lincoln (post civil war).

Absolutely zero indication if this.

Charles Manson, desu. Convicted for being too dangerous to release.

what lad

Washington, Lincoln, and FDR all had the opportunity. Most other American politicians who held dictatorial views (Hamilton, Long, etc.) typicall had some other problems that prevented them from getting the presidency.

>invade China

No, he wanted to nuke China. It wouldn't have been like Vietnam at all, it would have been all-out, absurdly one-sided total war, and when it was all over and hundreds of millions of Chinese lay dead or dying from radiation poisoning the US would have taken Nazi Germany's place as the most evil country in history.

>But McCarthy was right, in fact he probably underestimated the communist infiltration.

He wasn't looking for commies at right place. Commies in media and entertainment are only symptom. Disease is commies in education system, they create ones in the media.

China would have been far easier than vietnam
Vietnam was an autistic meme war
China was conquered by the japs no worries
