Generally speaking, no, the starting units are never good.
In the future they might be buffed to passable levels but by then it's likely that you will have more worthwhile units.

Natural 5* means someone that can only be rolled as a 5*, such as Lyn, Hector, or Lucina.
Nino as a 5* will probably be really goddamn good though, because it's Nino.
In every other mobage, 5* bases are the best. They just plain outclass everyone else.
Usually, it's because of some sort of ability they have.
Considering you'd have went through 20 levels and gained potentially more stats and skills, it's actually best to not get a 5 star. It's just that some characters are ONLY 5 stars.

What focus do I use for my rerolls?
Natural 5 star means that the unit does not exist in a lower star state. All units can be upgraded to 5 star however the natural 5 stars are really rare and with allot of mobile games means that they are probably a bit better than the non natural 5 star units. This can differ though.

Is it a waste to use your SP to upgrade weapon tiers on a character that you plan to 5 star? It looks like getting 5 stars automatically upgrades the best weapon for most characters so you'd be wasting your SP on prior weapon upgrades?

You get 5 feathers from greeting people on your friend list and the only other way to get them is from pvping and that caps at 1600 per week
