Guess McDonald's also got so big because the food is nasty (fuck your hipster healthy bullshit that's not the point). You'll always have naysayers when a company gets big, but that doesn't change the fact that they're successful for a reason.
Whats it even like working at these places?
Like I understand needing to deal with people who don't know what they're talking about, but is it a particularly tough job?
It's tough if you're stupid and know less than your customers.
Couldn't do it.
There's now way I can work in a store and peddle inferior parts at a higher cost.
I would turn all of them into RockAuto storefronts, use the computers to order parts online and have them delivered next day.
I mean.
I've been working at a mechanic shop with a dude for the past year and a half or two years, but that's only bee on vintage stuff (1972 or before). I legit haven't worked on a modern car ever.
If you consider shipping and warranty reshipping cost, the local parts house is still the better deal so far.
If you know that brakes is more than just the pads, you're worlds ahead of literally every customer.

Gotcha, thanks dude.
The guy I've been working with is wanting to stop because he's getting older and doesn't feel like doing the manual labor anymore. So I'm needing a new job and I'd rather be selling parts than flipping burgers or something (highschooler).
Most of the Cubans here in Miami are pretty awesome with cars. They have to be when all you have in Cuba are 1950s ladas that only run on hopes and dreams, a few rubber bands, and some chewing gum.
