Buying cheap multimeter today, going to see about trying to get the MJ working again. All power to the vehicle is still gone as per my last post so I'm not too completely convinced that the problem is going to be all that awful to locate. Has to be close to the positive battery cable somewhere. Hopefully I can get the bastard working again soon, I'd hate to give up on it but I've got my regrets about this project for sure.

does your year caprice still have that weird ass electronic distributor hooked up to a knock sensor? I went through hell trying to figure out why my brother's 305 wouldn't start after I had pulled the engine to fix the rear main seal.

if it does you can bypass the entire ignition control module and make it a 1 wire HEI again by jumping two of the wires on the 4 pin connector. I think it was 2 and 4, but I'm not sure.

and apparently you can't paint over zinc coating very well.

Bulk trash day in the city is a great way to find rugs and whatnot. Who cares if it's stained, it's gonna sit outside in the sun and rain.

It's pretty shitty. Those tiny caster wheels just dig in when there's any kind of load on the cherrypicker. You're better off rolling the car out from underneath the cherrypicker instead of the other way around.

A carpet makes it a bit better (the cherrypicker still sinks, but it doesn't DIG) but a cement slab is obviously the best way to go.

Load levelers are meant to assist old, worn out springs, but can also be used to stiffen up a suspension system when used with new springs for better handling and less body roll.

I have KYB gas a just shocks up front with new springs, load levelers and cargo coils in the rear, they're all pretty alright.

but user, i keep my grand marquis in nice shape (no rust/rot, do wash & wax it) and at gas stations I have gotten some older folks compliment me on it. I agree right now it's not on par with the classics of the 50s/60s, but it's a style no longer in production and are rarely seen on roads. That has to count for something, yeah?

Back in the day it was a shitbox car that everybody and their mother owned. I doubt very much people back then would have thought that people today would think they're nice or cool cars.

Last time I drove a Mercedes Sprinter down my driveway I was thankful for having a spotter. It's the same story with my garage. S-Class size is the absolute maximum I wanna have to deal with.

Well i'm going to be doing the front shocks first (which were the ones in pic related) but when i get around to doing the rear shocks those load-levelers are definitely going to be a serious consideration.

Probably a stupid question, but any ideas why my Bronco has been dry starting after sitting for 8 hours? It's usually less than or about a second before it gets oil pressure and the horrendous noise of my bearings killing themselves stops. This has only started happening since I replaced the valve cover gaskets and intake manifold gaskets and cleaned the insides of both up, which I don't think should have any effect. It's a 5.0 with ~130K miles. Fresh oil and filter. It should probably be noted that I'm using 20W50 because I had low oil pressure previously, but it had the same thing (after the gaskets) on the 500 miles old 10W30 I was running until I changed to 20W50 yesterday.

3k is a typical price for turd gens. Manual swap a bit of work though. You might want to try finding a manual 305 and putting in a 350

You'll need the whole pedal assembly, different trans mounts and you'll need a good transmission. Regular t5 will explode rather quickly under anything but a stock or extremely mild 350

T56 of good. Benefit is you can swap an LS in at any time when you feel more ambitious

Right. That's why I'm looking at a turd gen. I can do easy upgrades first, and start doing more ambitious stuff later as I go along. I think that's a good way of doing it.
