Subaru has been really successful lately - they're getting a lot of cred for their CUV, SUV, and wagons, especially. Lots of normies are into the whole "sports and outdoors and finding adventures" thing right now. Subaru's are way the fuck cheaper than Land Rover, so people buy what they can afford. Also, the WRX has basically supplanted the BMW 3-series as the best-in-class sports sedan that more normie people can actually afford (and are not afraid to drive because of "muh AWD" & "RWD = deathtrap!!!") and make use of. A pauper-level 320i is almost $10,000 more and you'll still feel like a poor person driving it because the German base models are jokes. It's also way slower and is nothing like the 3-series of days long past. Or you could get a 2-series... which defeats the whole point of having a well-rounded 4-door car that you can use everyday while still having fun.

This was my built 02 WRX. It may have been classified as a WRX but I could take down new evolutions and STI's.

This was it when I got it, God the rice was strong with this one. It made 374hp at 14lbs.

What I meant was that people call RWD deathtraps and everyone thinks AWD is mandatory for a "good" vehicle.

Try comparing the price of a 2WD vs AWD SUV, it's fucking enormous. Everyone looks at you funny if you insist on a 2WD SUV.
