IT is a meme career pseudo supporting a real one (programming), everything is proprietary, you can't do anything, as soon as your clients figure this out they will go full luddite tier, go back to paper, and drop you. Even if you own the IT company you're fucked

What do you hate about the field?

You the guy who was getting married?

Nooo, long term gf, too young to ruin my life just yet.

You live with the boys or on your own?

IT's a fun and great career that pays well until your client's proprietary shitware takes a dump. At that point the company that makes it will just blame you, nobody's ever going to admit fault. Your client will give it a few days of the other company not helping them due to some bullshit they cite in the contract until they realize that if the software isn't working, they don't need it anymore and also don't need the computer as well, and therefore don't need you. This can and will happen to each and every client you work with once the shitware company realizes it's easier to make money by getting more shitty sales people who lie their ass off because they get paid on commission and keep selling it to new clueless clients instead of fixing even the smallest problem with it. There is no incentive for them not to do this which is why it's going to happen and why IT is a meme industry.

Sorry for asking

I'm dealing with this today, faulty design implemented by sales and I've had this in my hands for a month and just got shit on this week. You can't really say well it was handed to me this way and that is the way they wanted it but than again the company expects you to re-design it anyway and take the blame

Now I'm fucking stuck with bad news

I did make a mistake though, tried to pass the blame = explain the way it was handed to me in that way. I should have sat there and taken the pain but I couldn't keep it shut any longer...

Not an outburst during meeting, just tried to explain more than I should have

That depends entirely on what kind of "IT" you do. It doesn't always mean help desk or working for clients/outside companies. I work for a small pharmaceutical company, where IT is everything from programming to FDA regulatory work.

You do networking until the shitware breaks down. Then it doesn't matter if you have a CCNA because nobody thinks they need you anymore.

>What do you deal with
Shitware.

In 10 years the IT industry will be long gone as it all happens on the web now. Everyone is sick of installing software which is essentially the same thing that happened to all the shitty 90s modem software, they got replaced with a hardware version because it's so unreliable. Installing software is dead, so therefore so are servers, so therefore so are networks.

You don't know what type of networks I've been working on

Really makes you think

>two
And it's somewhat paradoxical to say you like cars and have the money to enjoy cars, but then not buy cars.

Those numbers are city numbers are therefore complete shit when you are paying more than half your money on any form of housing that wouldn't fly for a third its cost 20 miles out. Also same goes for insurance at any age group. "$100K" is nothing when the smallest house is $1M. Best is to have a remote job then be in some small city. Get city pay and live in the country, pay off your entire house in a year and retire in 10.

>thinking that anyone is telling the truth
really activates my almonds
ya know what I actually make 450k a month and drive 1992 Ford Taurus

Yea

There's a reason, also there are more than a few people making six figures

I'm driving a shit box as well but mostly for paint issues and not much else

The thing with actual rich people, they usually don't need to flaunt their wealth nor do they want attention.

They usually have a nice car, some beater, maybe a few more fun cars stored in varies places. I pretty much have a shitbox for my daily and something else I use for my personal time

Also, you never drive people around in your nice car, first dates, out with guys from work you don't use your good car

>They will go full luddite tier
My company has the most unhappy customers on the planet and even when they get out of their contracts they still keep us because going back to paper is such a fucking chore.

>housing

Housing is a bitch

In rent I spend about 25k a year for a one bedroom

Total waste of money since I should be getting a house soon

Good news though, I was looking at a big house something along the lines of 3+ bedrooms but I'm at the point now where I don't really need such a big house at all

this. It's wretched how so many people don't take into consideration the fact of the respective costs of living relative to peoples income. So what if someone makes 200k a year in LA? Someone making half that way out of the city is more than likely living just as comfortably and putting away the same amount or more money.
