I will never not be mad at payware car shit. I'm fine if you have a place for donations, but there's so much wrong with it in total. They don't own the content, there's no guarantee of quality, there's no accountability or actionable ways to get the content updated for the game, there's no consumer protections. I'd rather have hundreds of people playing my mod and leaving good reviews over the $100 they'll make from selling cars. If they want to make money, get a real job or hope people are kind enough with donations. Payware mods are the scummiest part of simracing.

Regarding this week's turnleft track, on Sector 3, there's a split, one with warning cones that goes straight and merges back to the main path, and another that curves around first.
Would it be unethical or like too much of a dick move to go straight through the cones instead?
The game itself doesn't give me a warning for doing so

The next thing that could go any worse is modders using Patreon as a way to "sell" mods. This is why people over /emugen/ bitch over Cemu's Patreon, for instance. (Has that happened yet, specificially in simracing?)

Rfactor 2 and RACE 07 both have Radicals.

There have been a few donationware mods where you had to donate to get it. One that comes to mind is the full version Lake Louise mod but that wasn't done over Patreon and it seems like the mod was taken down for whatever reason.

I don't get why mod teams don't just make Patreons as sort of tip jars. Release mods for free and just link your patreon when releasing it for people that want to support you. Maybe give them very slight improvements or early access to your mods as a thank you.
The Luccaring for AC is a great example. The mod itself is free, but if you donate to the maker he gives you higher resolution textures. It only changes it for you and you can still join servers even if the host doesn't have them. And it's not something that drastically changes the gameplay on the track, as it still looks pretty even with slightly lower res textures

That's not the issue - the issue is spinning out and driving erratically, going randomly on and off the track, spinning and causing crashes by blocking the track etc.
