In what condition is your current car's paintjob in?
Mine is pretty meh. Not deplorable, but VERY FAR from perfect.

bump
Mexico?
No, Panama.
A lost cause. A shame too as it's black with blue flake in it, very pretty in the sun.
a few scratches nothing serious haha lol
Pretty decent considering it's a /rust/ era Mazda.
The clear coat is peeling on the hatch handle thing but other than a few stone chips and dents it's fine.
Body paint looks good as fuck IMO will post more.
Hood is kinda fucked because aftermarket and cheaper paint. It's 20 year old paint on the body so I'm impressed.
Here's more on the body
my paint's alright, save the bonnet, dents are my problem
aligator pussy
this is so fucking awesome. like my amigos little bro. Paints good. Wish i could do something about the plastic bits.
Starting to show its age for sure, id like to get a respray at some point though
trim paint, or just a restorer if you dont want to go all out
>amigo
That's a model name I haven't heard in years.
isuzu stronk!!
Got some flaking on the door mirrors but hey it's a shitbox destined for a scrapheap so who cares.
Just a reminder that by using a clay bar and waxing your car once a month, your cars paint will look pristine for decades. Even a shitbox can look good if you have maintained your paint job. Just a few hours a month is a big pay off in the long run.
Its pretty bad
>pictured on the right is current body
>car is barely over 1.25 years old
>20k miles
>over two dozen decent size rock chips all over the hood, front bumper, side skirts, and even some chips in the wheel paint
>even when washed shit is in the paint that doesn't come out and clay bar doesn't fix it
kind of sad I need a paint correction at 20k miles to get it looking good again and that can't take care of the rock chips
What model is this?
suzuki jimny
It's horrificic
Doesn't look bad at all senpai, I know the paint's supposed to be clearer but as it is, I like it.
looks great with a bit of distance. but chips in the front bumper and those little paint swirls that only black would show
Here's mine, the paint is pretty good but it has some scratches and a dent in one of the quarter panels. The front bumper needs a repaint too. The hardtop just got sprayed last fall so that's in good shape
Has anybody here had paintless dent repair done to their car? Is it gud?
Give it some proper wax, bro.
Bretty Gud
The paint on my car is great on the sides but the fronts got scratechs and so does the back bumper, from people hitting me while parking. Also the sun is baking my roof and it looks dull, the hood basically has an outline of the engine in the paint :c
I have to park my cars outside next to a bush, it's pointless cleaning them up that much. The Miata is my daily too. Soon the corolla will be dd able and I can clean the Miata up nice. Talk about shit paint
it's much worse upclose in person. it's very obvious that it was done unprofessionally ;___;
I think I'm going to repaint it in the old honda blue. the same as my 89 civic I used to own
Fair enough - just with miata paint (mostly red) pays to put a bit of wax on every now and then.
Except for the passenger-side rear fender.
i crashed into a tree a couple weeks ago so not good
of course, its wet and in the shade but it really doesnt look too bad from that one pic.
my paint is just ok. i wash and wax it somewhat often but ive havent done any paint correction in a few years. as a result, lots of swirl marks.
plus im using a strap on bike rack (something i never did before) and its scratching the shit out of my trunk
Faded factory single stage red paint with slight rust.
Pic for reference.
Good. A few light scratches on top of the rear bumper from loading God knows what cargo in. Might be able to buff them out before selling it.
>In what condition is your current car's paintjob in?
It was bought new and stayed "Like new" for 19 years now. I hand wash and wax it. The wax is the key thing as it protects the clear coat by sacrificing itself. That's why the wax disappears even though there is no rain to wash it off. As I drive, the car impacts trillions of microscopic particles of fiber dust, sandy dust, brake dust, and even grains of sand. All those impacts might yank off a molecule of wax with each impact. But if there was no wax, there is the chance it could yank off a molecule of clear coat.
I know and proven to myself that the wax works. If I strip the wax off to see the true clear coat, it is still shiny with almost the same "new car" clarity as when it was new. But if I look at all the other myriad cars on the road, they might be shiny after a car wash, but their clear coats do not have that same new car look.
Is it too late to apply wax on an already ruined shitbox?
By ruined I mean a few scratches here and there and roof sun-spots.
it's OK. A few fixable scrapes and scratches, I have the Dr Colorchip repair kit for them, I've just been too lazy to get 'round to it. It has some pitting in the clear coat due to the fact that the previous owner lived in Hawaii and clearly couldn't be bothered to clean water spots off the car before they baked in. Unfortunately I have clear coat bubbling on my roof rail and spoiler, a known issue for Mk 1's. Probably will have to have the whole car resprayed in the next couple years but when I wash/wax it it still shines up well.
That's the chip guard, it's just a thick clear vinyl decal.
I'm removing it since it decided to start cracking and hold dirt.
for now it is well enough
only at 1 year and I have noticed the panels all bend/flex very easily. If my toddler pushes against the back number he can bend it. concerns me that it's gonna be all spider web cracks and shit but only time will tell
3 years old and it's riddled with stone chips and grazes especially on the front bumper.
I took care of it for a while but just don't give a fuck anymore.
This right here.
Even if it is a shitbox, take care of it. A little effort goes a long ways. Take car of your shitboxes faggots.
Lancer evo
It's ehh...
I got some white paint specks from them painting the god damn road during rush hour.
You can't see it until your about 3 ft away, But I'm slowly removing it from the entire car with clay. It's taking fucking forever though, One speck may take 2 minutes to remove....An there are probably thousands. It's all over
After very extensive clay barring, some polishing minor scratches from other peoples fucking doors bumping into it, and wax. It'll look a lot better
It's not bad. A few bubble rust spots around the top of the windshield and two holes by the rear fenders. Could probably use a good waxing and polishing but eh, it's a jeep.
Detailer here, to remove paint specks easily just dab some lacquer thinner on a microfiber towel and gentle rub it over the paint. Your car's paint is too think to be effected by the lacquer thinner but it will take the paint specks right off. Don't push too hard or you'll leave tons of scratches on the car because it does soften the paint while it's wet. When it drys just spray some detailer spray and wipe off any residue. You can always buff over it afterwards if there's still scratches though.
Needs work, but still in decent condition.
>mfw own a black 2016 f150 and the paint/clearcoat is scratched to fuck from serious off-road abuse.
Never again will I buy a black vehicle.
I'm too afraid.
Plus the car has probably never been clay barred ever since it was made. It needs it anyway
Can you suggest a good clay bar? Are some more aggressive?
Few little imperfections but for being 20 years old the paint itself is great
>Has anybody here had paintless dent repair done to their car? Is it gud?
I went to one shop and they told it would be pointless to do it in a 20 years old car that has dents all over the joint. It would be cheaper to give it to the metal shop and paint it later.
>Has anybody here had paintless dent repair done to their car? Is it gud?
It worked great in my case. But it also needs flexible paint (somewhat new). Older paint is potentially brittle or has a risk of it detaching or cracking when the metal surface is smoothed out.
more like never again trust ford's paint team.
You can make rock chips nearly invisible with touch up paint, wetsanding, and buffing.
dents and scratches here and there. otherwise ok condition
Yeah there are different grits of clay bars. You'll probably need an aggressive one to see good results. The purple ones are what you're looking for, they usually say they're aggressive so you'll know it's the right one.
Step aside, worst paint coming through.
No no, the paint would've been fine if I was a mall cruiser.
Nice try gm marketing team.
Would you like a free brochure for our brand new Chevrolet Cruze?
...
For it being half a century old,not bad.But it was stored in a locked garage for 20 years so it's not too faded but it's still original paint.
I rear ended one of those when they brake checked me once.
Scratch on my bumper and whole new bumper/rear light for the cuck I hit.
All on his own dime though as I had a dashcam.
