It started knocking today though. Going to do a compression test in the morning. Fairly sure the engine is toast. It's overheated at least once, because the head was warped when I got it.

I suspect one of the rings is warped. Might need a bottom end rebuild, which is fun because I have no idea what I'm doing.

It takes forever and it's expensive, but it's worth it. There's only so many E30s out there. What happened to the 2002 is started to happen to the E30.

There's an E30 318i on CL near me right now and I can afford it if I ramen for the next 6 months, but I really don't need another car.

I mean, it shares a chassis and some parts with the P1/C1 platform, but still has Volvo safety and design. Plus a turbo 5cyl that you can't get outside of Volvo's P1. if we're arguing that, it's also a Mazda 3

I'll usually go for a spirited drive afterwards to get all the water off. I hear using a leaf blower works too.

Wash in the shade and dry it as soon as you can with a soft towel

if you have no shade to wash your car under it, wash a panel then dry it as soon as you can, then move to wash the next panel

Don't be, it has 350k miles on it and my dad uses it as a commuter. Panels are rusting and the paint is peeling.
