Ideally the controlling of any machine should be as straightforward as possible. It should do what the operate wants it to do as simply and straightforwarldy as possible with as little rigamarole as possible to get a simple command as "go forward", "go backwards" or "park".
For this reason automatic transmissions are fundamentally superior to manual transmissions.
Jack Hall
Stale pasta and bad bait.
Luis Gonzalez
>Powersliding through corner >Modulating throttle to control slide >Loosen up on the throttle when slip angle increasing too quickly >Automatic trans decides to upshift >Sudden traction; suspension unbalanced
This is why automatics are dangerous.
Jaxson Rivera
Yes, and the control shouldn't be hidden away behind layers of abstraction and lack of control
> Driving along > Put foot down slightly to close gap > CLUNK THUNK CLUNK > Automatic transmission changes down > Car brakes suddenly > Engine redlines > CHUNK THUNK CLUNK > Transmission changes back up > Revs drop suddenly > Car lurches forward from sudden deceleration > CLUNK THUNK THUNK CLYUNK > Car changes down again > Eventually even it out by playing with the throttle
> Climbing hill > Losing revs > Losing revs > LOSING REVS > Van struggling to keep moving, now > Don't dare take a hand of the wheel > BANG THUNK CLUNK > Gear changes suddenly > Accelerate sharply because my foot's flat down still
> Descending hill > Gearbox is missing gears without notification > Goes from 5th to 2nd > Van jerks sharply > Engine races > Everything in the back jumps and rattles > Seatbelt the only thing stopping me from being hurled into the passenger footwell
Manuals don't do that.
Alexander Walker
lets all laugh at the guy who has never been on a track or even tried testing the limits of his car
John Cooper
>coming out of corner >plant foot >need to ease off a little for whatever reason >automagic computer thinks its upshift time >now have 0 acceleration only thing autos are good for are businessmen pretending to be racecar drivers on the motorway in their mercs and 2 speeds in top fuel dragsters
Christopher Carter
>top fuel dragster >two speed Nigga what
Elijah Powell
i heard dragsters use stone age auto transmissions because they're built tough as fuck
Samuel Hernandez
>in a race >choose to stop momentum for several seconds each shift >because muh physical shifting
Lincoln Myers
>in a race >decide to have 99% power loss between engine and transmission >because lazy
Ryan Davis
>in a race >choosing combustion engine
Christian Ross
Well with an auto you can just not worry about, but if youre' capable, mannys give you absolute control over the powertrain... Which is nice, desu...
Matthew Reyes
the keyword here being "controlling", not "let the machine decide what fucking ever"
Asher Rivera
>in a race
Brandon James
dual clutch =/= single cuck
Kayden Walker
>mfw auto cucks get to wiggle their suggestion knob while manual alphas get a command rod
Julian Roberts
>be homo sapien >have a brain capable of making complex decisions >drive a slow heavy automatic that chooses gears for you but only never as accurately as you, yourself, would
Apparently this makes sense to some people.
Juan Bell
how's that limited human response time again, single cuck?
Dominic Hernandez
>limited human response time again speak for yourself sub human lmao
James Powell
a single clutch and a single cuck, match made in heaven
Colton Wood
automatics are replacing manuals and there is nothing you can do about it
Jackson Morris
>mfw clutchcucks literally pay more for slower shifting option
