Do you like hatchbacks?

I never understood why anyone would buy a sedan when hatchbacks exist. They're usually only a few dollars more on the same model and not significantly heavier, but in exchange you get way way more practicality. The only legitimate downside is that they are harder to heat and cool.
America especially fucked up by neglecting the hatchback, because by the time they realized they actually needed hatches, people had stopped making them. I think that's why we've got this retarded "crossover" epidemic now. People WANT a proper wagon but no one makes good wagons anymore. But I'm glad to see them making a kind of comeback with the Fiesta, Focus, Cruze, Sonic, and of course the legendary CTS

Wagons and Hatchbacks are the ultimate DD car shape, prove me wrong.

Why don't they do a 3 door hatch and then instead of a 5 door hatch, they just pull that back end a bit more out and, boom, wagons!

I prefer a sedan or coupe because I am usually alone in the car and I have enough space in the trunk and backseat for luggage. Hatches are the ultimate family vehicle though.

Also they do have 3-door wagons, they're called shooting brakes in Europe. Examples sold in America that come to mind immediately are the original Chevy Nomad and the Volvo P1800ES.

Cars are too big nowadays. 3-door hatches have these awkward long doors and large gaps of nothing. 5-doors end up filling the space better.

I inherited one of these. It's my first hatchback, and aside from being able to load a little more than a small sedan's trunk, I see no difference. Is there something I should know about hatchbacks?
