>ride motorcycle
>~8000 rpm most of time
>stop
>try to measure engine block temperature with thermal camera
>out of range
>temperature range of camera is 150°C
Should I be worried?
You know what's even better?
Engine overheats and there is zero indication that it was doing it until you see a bunch of white smoke coming out the exhaust.
Yes. Thermal breakdown for oil is about 110c, 120~ for synthetics. Not to mention the boiling point of pure water at 30PSI is about 250f/120c.
Are you sure you're not just pointing it at the headers?
user, that's terrifying. Also, those are cherries.
>Are you sure you're not just pointing it at the headers?
No, the header was even more hot.

I tested it with some water on the cooling rips, it boiled away instantly.
Then yes I would say that is bad.
What bike?

Old aircooled east german 2-smoke
I've seen a few chinese 2t's with heads approaching 400f/200c, but those were little ningers revving their tits off without care of consequence.
150c+ still sounds pretty hot.
My DR650 ran at 350*f/176*c no problem, aircooled can run up pretty high.
As long as when you back off it comes down, and you allow time for proper cooling after a hard run like that.
