1989 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer edition. 5.0L (302ci) V8 engine, mated to a 4-spd automatic overdrive transmission. Develops 185 horsepower at something like 4000RPM, and 270ft-lb of torque at something like 3400RPM. Redline isn't 100% determined because the stock tach is reliably unreliable at high RPM, but it's somewhere between "5500" and "6000." Top speed is "supposed" to be 98mph, but I've GPS verified 108mph (on a downhill) and 105mph on flat ground. 0-60 in a week 0-100 in 2 weeks Quarter mile: eventually. Rated factory fresh at 14 city and 18 highway. I get a real world 11.6MPG average mostly highway, but have gotten as high as 14.6MPG in absolutely ideal conditions. Curb weight is also undetermined exactly, but is said to be somewhere between 4410 lbs and roughly 5000 lbs. Braking distance: Surprisingly short. Burgerkingring time: Probably greater than 10 minutes in Sabine Schmidtz's hands, but I doubt if anybody's had a Bronco around it. Shifts from 1st to 2nd at 17mph, 2nd to 3rd at 21mph, and between 37 and 40mph depending on temperature. Has 31x10.5R15 tires, Uniroyal Liberator A/Ts produced in 2009. Stock size is either a 215/75R15 or a 235/75R15 I think. Front disk brakes with a single pot caliper, rear drums with ABS on the rears only. It has a tighter turning circle than a 2000 Infiniti i30, but the front tires rub at full lock so I avoid that. Wheelbase is, I think, 106 inches. It's based on an F-150, and almost all of the parts are the same.

It's still called a 5.0 for good reason. Back in the late 1960's, SCCA Trans Am racing dictated a maximum of 5.0 liters of displacement. Chevy and Ford both made 4" bore small blocks and 3" cranks to fit in them, and both made screaming 302ci engines. Ford ran with it, and still calls their 4.9 liter engines 5.0. Mopar had to be unique with their 304, a combo of a slightly overbore 4" with a slightly stroke slightly below 3".
Similarly, NASCAR enforced a 7.0 liter limit. Ford and Chevy both made 427's for that, Mopar had to differentiate hemselves with their 426ci engine.
