The Nitto N555 that I have on my 540 have held up well. Got them roughly for 600 USD.
Joseph Peterson
Were you running any camber? I'm curious about how they'll hold up to the wear
Also, how many miles have you put on them so far?
Carson Watson
Shameless self bump. Tire reviews all read the same and I don't want to slide off track because of shit tires
Christian Wood
Stockish camber which is probably no more than 2-3 degrees in the back. I think I've put around 10k and two track events on them. The Car's heavy so I had quite a bit of shoulder wear after tracking them, but the tread itself has held up well.

Michelin Pilot super sports are gold standard for a reason.
I had a set of Goodyear Asymmetric 3s that I liked a lot.
Didn't care for Conti extreme contact DW
Did like Conti Sport Contact 2, 3, and what I sold the car with 5.
Michelins were the noisiest out of the liked tires and best in all conditions weather and loading.
Contis were the weakest perfomers in the wet and cold (sub 60F outside), each generation improved on this. Warm and wet they were slightly better than the Goodyear.
The Goodyear were the best wearing (got 20k of some hard driving out of them, best noise comfort, worst sidewalls of all mentioned. I ended up running them 10psi above placard to make them more like the others mentioned. It marginally helped but didn't seem to really hurt wear, wear pattern, or noise.
I think I only got 15k out of everything else but I'd have to call my tire dealer to know for sure and you're SOL. There.
Hope this helps

Great reviews, but unfortunately out of my price point. They're all coming in at around 800 CAD plus shipping on some sites. If my tax return's going to be a bit bigger than usual I might be able to spring for the Super Sports
Bentley Williams
They are a great tire but keep in mind that the margins of performance differences amgonst these, even the DW that I didn't like aren't separated by a lot. Forums, especially the make/model/event specific are your friends. I never got around to trying some Hankook summer tires that were 5/8ths the cost of the super sports and less than 5% difference in laptimes between me and a guy with almost exactly my configuration and weight (we even weighed within 10lbs of each other). We swapped cars for a few laps and pretty much repeated the cars' individual results.
Point being heed the advice of the community knowledge for rubber, buy what makes sense for your budget, and enjoy yourself.

I used firehawk wide ovals on one of my cars for about 8 years, found them to be pretty good desu.

Thanks user. Thought I was going to get flamed out of existence for posting, but it turned out alright.
You're an ok guy user

My motivos try to snap oversteer me to death in a drizzle and the n555 is even worse in the wet.

Mfw austraya charges $300+ a tyre and I'm forced to use $150 chink tyres reee wtf is up with our retarded prices

Federal 595 RS-RR
Indy 500s are good tires but they're meant more for mileage than grip. They're sticky but not as sticky as a actual 200TW. Alternatively Hankook RS4s.
Christian Anderson
Maxxis are bretty good
Hudson Thompson
Australia is no fun allowed. NZ is pretty bad, too, depending what size you want, but a fair amount of 3rd party resellers are massive jews, though. If my local corner store gets me Nankang AR-1's for $230 apiece and Hyper Drive wants $390, something is fucky.
Charles James
Fastest dude at my track runs hankook ventus v2 all seasons lol, says it’s cheap and works well
Kevin Ramirez
i don't know what your size is but my set of BFG Rival S tires has been amazing, they get awesome grip at a pretty wide range of temperatures, although as a side effect they tend to overheat a little too quick if you're doing actual track stuff for an autocross/street summer tire they've been a blast
what's your suspension setup? Unless you're running some sports suspension or 2004 WRX STI struts at all four corners, tires shouldn't make a huge difference.
Juan Morales
>tires shouldn't make a huge difference quality tires are the first thing you should purchase for literally any vehicle, unless you drive a POS mitsubishi mirage noodlebox that handles too shitty to make a difference anyway
Brandon Fisher
Agreed. Massive grip will definitely bring out the weak points in your setup, but goddamn grip is grip, even in a shitbox. I've always been of the logic that I'd rather have too much grip daily and not need it than to have no enough when I do.
in a similar vein, I just got an S13 for cheap, good condition overall but the wheels are not particularly happy what's a good wheel that's relatively inexpensive, will hold up to a bit of hooning and won't look like ass? 4 lug is a bonus, but I don't mind doing a conversion (planning on doing a full brake job at some point anyways, may as well do that at the same time)
Levi Perez
Wheel designs really are subject to personal preference, but cheap wheels are definitely out there and in huge numbers, even for 4x100 (or are 13's 114?).
Levi Wilson
114, I think my main problem is just figuring out what brands are good and which ones to avoid, I know jack shit about wheels really if I just had a few names I'm sure it'd be easy to pick something out
James White
All the 'renown' name brands charge a leg and a hymen, sometimes justly, a great many less so. If you're not going to a track, just get what looks good but try keep the weight down - unsprung mass and all that. Konig/Rays/enkei/volk/949's section all have serious $$ flow forced dealios, but for every model they have there's 20 off-brands that do the same design for 1/4 the cost. Yes, there is quality factored in, but if you're not curbing the damn things or mach 10 pothole hunting on the track then it's really up to you.
Connor Phillips
I got a set of Sumitomo HTR a/s PO2 for my mustang. I’ve had them for about two years and they’ve been through one track day. For a $100 tire they really outdid my expectations and are rated really well on tirerack. I wasn’t expecting much, just something to last through maybe a year but they’ve been great to me to the point that i May consider another set when it’s time for more tires
Asher Watson
No summer tire can hold up to track use for multiple seasons. Hell you'll be needing new tires every other event if you're lucky. Just get some normal summers.
Nathan Sullivan
I went from goodyear $120 all seasons to indy 500 wide ovals. Was night and day and i got mine for $60 each. They seem to be lasting. Kinda noisy and soft sidewall but very much worth what I paid.
Isaiah Thomas
OP here for the morning after. Running BC coilovers all around with sway bars on the way once I get a feel for what the car needs. Next weak point is the tires unfortunately.
