threadly reminder that time spent shitposting is the time that could be spent devving or making fanart for your favorite dev
Bentley Gutierrez
What's with all those weird thread OP pictures you guys use? Like the chicken and that weird orb thing.
I don't get it.
Ethan Gomez
It's art
Eli Young
>make futuristic looking asset >ask friends about how it looks since I don't want to spoil demo day content in /agdg/ >friend says it looks like a salt shaker >mfw he's right
This is Literally Insane Shitposter trying to restart the argument that ruined the previous thread.
David Diaz
fuck off insaneposter
James Cooper
Reposting with guilt because i won't have a playable demo VID: streamable.com/7h1mi
William Ramirez
Didn't realize the thread was so close to dead - reposting progress.
Got random spawns within a navmesh to work. Got a laundry list of things to do before Demo Day - wish me luck!
Leo Moore
>This is Literally Insane Shitposter trying to restart the argument that ruined the previous thread.
Mason Walker
>Got a laundry list of things to do before Demo Day - wish me luck! Good luck, I want to play your game !
Ryan Parker
posting this the last time before a new roster in round 2.
Isaiah Garcia
Working on more items so I can not submit a demo for demoday.
Got some synergy too.
Brandon Flores
rollin
Matthew Thomas
Looks neat my dude. In the future you might consider making the rooms more letterbox rather than being so wide. I think it'll limit your room designs to have such a wide layout.
Josiah Cooper
Why are you trying to get people to spam the thread with roll posts?
how do i get my motivation back? i was coding using my own intuition and i knew where everything was and what it should do without a second thought but when i reworked my code to follow rules and structures it's not intuitive for me anymore and i've lost all motivation, i know a good structure is the right choice in the long run but it's not comfy
Elijah Clark
Why do you keep doing this to me?
Isaac is a Zelda clone, so both.
John Evans
>argument What argument? You mean someone posted an easily confirmed fact you didn't like and you tried to derail the thread because of it?
Seems like you're the shitposter.
Luke Hill
Imagine having a finished game and how proud you'll be.
Carson Phillips
>4 or 5 replies is spam
Jason Sanders
fite me cunt
Brandon Scott
Not sure what you mean, I'm guessing you've gotten that feedback already?
I'm not saying it's game breaking, but I had this problem with Dungeon Break and it's wide layout rooms - I had to bias the enemy placement towards the sides of the room because there was so little space for things to happen in the vertical space.
Ryder Brown
fuck off insaneposter
Ethan Miller
it's better than yet another 300 posts of stale shitposting and actually /agdg/ related roru
Anthony Edwards
>stop talking about this thing Nope. Probably going to bring it up every thread from now on everyday for the next 2 years. Hope you enjoy it.
Carter Harris
The samefagging is really obvious. I'm only giving (You)s in the hopes that newfriends who don't know any better will see my sacrifice and know not to respond to you.
Blake Bailey
neat, are you using game maker? how do you stop time for objects exactly?
Jack Hill
Very nice.
When enemies chase you around the room they'll all end up in the same spot. Better think up a solution to that.
>your janitor application has been rejected three times
Nicholas Reyes
I just don't see it.
It's in C# with monogame, I don't update their movement/actions.
Yeah, I'll make them push each other once I do proper pathfinding with obstacles on the levels.
Nathaniel Brown
We fucking need a janitor. And ids.
Jeremiah Smith
I would've said don't rework your code unless your code is so bad it's frustrating to work with.
Now that you've done it you just have to keep going until it's comfy again. Add a few features and it'll be sloppy and comfy in no time.
Ryan Russell
That feels way better, what does the other items do by the way?
Jacob Russell
You don't have to agree with me haha
I'm just offering friendly dev advice based on some challenges I ran into - it happened with Creature Castle too. When rooms are extra wide in one direction, then the challenge the player faces is different based on which door they come in, unless you specifically stuff enemies up into corners so they're not way close to one door than the other.
Otherwise I think it looks great, hope to see a demo soon
Ayden Ramirez

Samuel Sanchez
idea: Boss(es) that assess how skilled of a player you are by how you play against them and will mock you and sandbag a little if you play like garbage. Then you can surprise them with a skilled play and hit their vulnerable point or some shit.
Grayson White
Why doesnt his question mark follow? Or is that something you dont find important right now?
Angel Watson
How are you organizing your project? I'm starting with Monogame but even with all the reference material it's really hard to start for someone who's never done programming before.
Isaac Moore
You mean the "!"? Yeah its just not a priority for the demo. I could probably solve it by just spawning it as a child of the zombie so it follows them.
Lincoln Reed
I don't know exactly how to ask this, but how hard would it be to create an enemy in a 2d fighter with multiple height levels and ability to face and walk both ways and cross the player? (Something like the enemies you're playing against in Medabots AX on gba) Would it be possible and worth the time for someone that is just starting to create games or would you guys say it's an almost impossible task for a beginner to create an computer controlled enemy that would be a challenge to defeat?
Landon Gomez
Oh, yea I meant exclamation point, duh. But it looks neat, you ready for demo day?
Nicholas Hall
I don't organize anything, I just write code as I need things and keep everything modular.
Once you program enough you stop doing things as fast as possible and take some time to keep it manageable, or maybe I'm just a little autistic.
Dylan Gonzalez
Not him but, it's going to be very hard for you, user. C# itself is easy but I would have played around with another engine before jumping straight into monogame if this is really your first time
Thomas Murphy
Make fucking guess the number and tic tac toe in the command line before you even think about making a real game.
Jonathan Johnson
Any major regressions from Godot 2.1 to 3.0 alpha? I'm working with 2.1 stable right now but I hear conversion isn't straight forward to 3.0. I don't mind migrating now, I'm using 2D so I don't anticipate using the new 3D features but I want to get the benefit of the other 3.0 stuff.
Jayden Cox
it could be worse
Charles Russell
You shouldn't use Monogame if you don't know how to program. You will write unmaintainable spaghetti.
Brody Howard
Nene has made her own engine.
Be like Nene anons.
Josiah Watson
Not yet, but I'm doing my best to get the demo ready.
Gotta add a quick "How to Play" screen, build some rescue-able NPCs, "win" parameters, and build a test level.
Connor Johnson
I'm using monogame, too. I wonder how many monogame games have time stop items?
Matthew Lee
Probably all of them because it's the coolest ability.
I love any kind of time manipulation in video games or other mediums.
Asher King
Sending good vibes your way then, user.
Thomas Martin
put this in a hunger games sim, and post the results sparingly (every half hour or so)
Zachary Perez
Thanks user. Demo Days are my ultimate motivation!
Jaxon Harris
>tfw this was my first demo day but my game had no characters
Aaron Fisher
>Literally all dead
Feels Bad Man
Benjamin Murphy
I'm hoping to make the next one. I started a prototype of a mario party a couple weeks ago.
Ayden Roberts
the half-man-half-waifu in a blue top is getting a steam release in like 2 weeks and bokube still lives
Jason Fisher
That's really cute.
Justin Edwards
I just saw the vampire-girl-dev post not too long ago, I think they're still going as well.
Gavin Hill
Yeah Godot 3.0 has a lot of breakage, they wanted to take this opportunity to fix and rework anything that needed it since the 3D renderer was completely changing. Function, property, and some object names changed throughout the API to make things more consistent. The audio system was completely rewritten. Shader language changed. I think those are the main things that will require reworking. There is a 2.1 -> 3.0 converter in the latest 2.1 builds. This should help convert at least some of the stuff to 3.0.
Easton Cox
Who painted this? Thats preddy good.
Aiden Reyes
[Placeholder Title] is still alive, it's just not a white rectangle anymore.
Luke Phillips
I wish I remembered the user who did the illustration. All I did was put it to a background and throw the DD9 logo and sordguy on it.
Haha all this time I never knew that guy was supposed to be Placeholder Rectangle.
Leo Rivera
>futuristic salt shaker
Ian Hernandez
I'm sad there will be no demo, but I like the effects and visuals.
Joseph Perez
truly the apex of creativity cats vs dogs now that's never been done before
Asher Gray
You wouldn't hit any significant roadblocks that you wouldn't making any other kind of game. Just give it a try.
Levi Rogers
so basically that shmup with a corgi but this time it's cade
Logan Russell
Is a milder texture easier to tolerate?
Gabriel Garcia
nope, looks like puke
Josiah Walker
I don't even like video games. Why do I come here?
Elijah Edwards
not an actual futuristic salt shaker. googling that just brings up "smart" garbage a regular salt shaker, but it's got future a e s t h e t i c s like glowing and other un-inspired ideas. I mean look at this shit how is that a fucking salt shaker
Christian Foster
I just googled that, but I want Eye of the Medusa to be more focused on pretty patterns like 2hu My game's only horizontal because that makes ripping off 2hu less obvious
Dylan Ortiz
Well, I joined the demo day!
Not sure I'll be able to make it, but I'll try to get what's playable up to get some much needed, and appreciated, feedback!
Dominic Nguyen
Are there any good books on Unity or programming, especially with C#? Are there any general books related to game development that I should read?
Jason Powell
YES
Been wanting to play your game for forever
Xavier Ward
If you really appreciate feedback, I'll comment on your game
Jackson Barnes
You could try a tile grid. It might make the 3D effect pop out more.
Asher Mitchell
>My game's only horizontal because that makes ripping off 2hu less obvious I actually have similar design decisions. It's all about clever stealing without becoming too obvious.
James Rivera
lower the fov value. wtf ;_;
Thomas Moore
but that's his game's gimmick
Brayden Harris
Books are waste of time. Only excepton would be if you read them on the bus or at school or whatever. Just work on your game instead.
Noah Brown
It would be a good idea to read about what I'm doing, so that I don't waste my time and so I fully understand Unity's capabilities.
David Young
You can do that all online too. I prefer learning by doing.
Mason Reyes
Not dead yet, been busy with things and unfortunately going to miss this Demo Day.
Robert Morgan
It's an ordinary fov value. The apparent curvature is a result of the non-euclidean geometry.
Aiden Jackson
Remind me how I filter Insaneposter. The last thread is fucking pathetic & I never want to see that shit again
Robert Allen
maybe whenever he starts shitting on me and my game and calling me rotate you can step in so he doesn't feel encouraged to keep shitposting when i stop responding to him
Kayden Miller
>calling me rotate you can step in Nah you on your own pussy
Owen Martin
don't worry I defeated him in the previous thread by making the last post after him, he won't show his face again
Adrian Wood
I definitely won't have anything ready for demo day, how often are they?
