how do i design a muscular male anthropomorphic character in such a way that people won't think i'm a gay furry

Make it silly

Don't use the same art style you use to draw your gay furry porn with. People can spot your fetishes a mile off when you do that.

you don't

...

>two previous threads
good fucking job op

Don't give it human eyes and a smug look.

Don't worry. The pacing is great with the player able to dash roll to make shortcuts for themselves if the boss catches up to them instead of taking the longer routes (webmrelated).

Rewarding players who have skills to pull off Dashes is good user.

more!

Is that webm your work ? Didn't you use to post in /3/ WIP threads ?

VR PORN IS UNCANNY VALLEY REEEEEEEEEEEE

very nice

Finally got rebindable controls working fully, and revamped controller support to also work with it. the old controller code was the stupidest hack every that I can't believe nobody noticed

I just started in game dev and made Pong and a platformer with Godot...

Where do I go from here?

3d or start a 2d project? who knows.
without knowing the specifics of what you put in the platformer it's hard to say.

Hey, I just played this.

It has a serious case of bullshot webm syndrome, pretty disappointing in it's current state with some of the jankiest controls of just about anything I've tried

what game is that ?

Did some work on these portraits, obviously not done yet.
Also made a second playable character.

Virt-A-Mate

>Also made a second playable character.
bad idea

Why would you think so user?

Is /agdg/ good for you as a gamedev or as a person?

>enjoy Veeky Forums
>enjoy gamedev
>why wouldn't combining them be a good thing?

2x the animations
More complicated code

A sense of community is important for any hobby and agdg is more active than most.

The price is that there are shitposters here, meming fucks who should not have their idea of general culture taken seriously.

enjoy !== good for you

Ah don't worry, this is a shmup, I could add 5 more characters and it wouldn't really be a problem.

I wouldn't be making the game I am now without AGDG so yeah.

Once I open up /agdg/ productivity drops considerably

No, it leads you to think you have friends, but in reality agdg is just another group of people who don't know you and don't care about you.

There are many people here which I can learn from in terms of coding, and sometimes it can be a good place to ask for help, but otherwise it's full of retards here like everywhere else.

It's a mixed bag in terms of being a good place to hang around. This website in general is probably not healthy to spend a lot of time on.

Sounds like you should go back to red.dit

It's 2D.
I just want to make game but I don't think I know enough yet.

Sounds like you're trying too hard to fit in.

Oh my god

One could say that's the same shit, or worse, with the constant dick sucking, trying not to hurt feelings and being hidden by downvotes for saying anything that goes against popular opinion. At least on Veeky Forums, in spite of the 200% shitposting, you can get some legitimate criticism. Or could, a few years ago.

we should all go. let's all of us go to reddit. we can make our own subreddit. we can motivate and uplift each other. it'll be glorious.

Clothes help

>and a platformer
Post it. Moving, jumping and ground collision aren't a game.

Clothing
Avoid bedroom eyes
No nipples
If you draw porn, make sure your liquids don't look like cum and your shading doesn't have that risque aura about it

>tfw game you want to make has a scope that would scare off even a professional development team, much less you

Make something smaller and raise the funds.

>in my game you can do ANYthing

think of the most fun part of that game and focus everything on that.

But can you do anyone?

this is the type of game I want to make

How'd he do it bros

>tfw instead of drawing I can just use poorly photoshopped images
How could this elude me all this time
It's genius
I'm genius

It sounds pretty niche and funny, but you have to be careful about copyright.

are you just trying to stir up shit or do you genuinely not know the story

Furshit and shill on /v/.

>tfw you're not even sure how big the scope is really

Can these lighting effects be done in Gamemaker?

youtube.com/watch?time_continue=6&v=g2JYgiuT_5Y

Is this true? (regarding godot 3)

>copyright
it's kinda scary how much the toucan image costs, it's like 200 bucks

Are you this guy user? kickstarter.com/projects/ue4god/project-arcane

the ue4god in the url intrigues me

The Pope bought every Catholic a copy, but never actually handed them out, they got lost in transit. Toby McGuire had to hand deliver a copy to the furious Pope because of that incident.

>Funding for this project was canceled by the project creator 14 minutes ago.

>$400k
>4 people actually pledged $121 in total
what in the fuck

incredible

>Kickstarter whales confirmed

>people would rather give money to some clearly bullshit kickstart project than gogem's patreon
There's some comfort in knowing that no matter how much I fuck up, I'm still very likely to get paid for my efforts.

Are those shadows supposed to look good?

You just made this to meme the thread. Fuck off.

did he just stick $121 in his pocket ? Or do you have to pay the money back when you cancel ?

>implying I would waste that much effort just for empty (you)'s
It was posted on /v/ some minutes/hours ago

kickstarter literally tells you to get your family to give you money through them to start off your success train. i dont do dumb shit like that, it seems embarrassing.

>bullshot webm syndrome
what's that?

So I'm trying to implement an ECS. I'm not all that hot on contiguity and cache-friendly stuff, so I just build an array of pointers with its size being the maximum amount of components. This way I don't waste memory with components an entity isn't using.

Now here's my problem: How do I add custom behaviour to an entity without making this behaviour a new component? Is something like a "code" component fine, or does it break the point of ECS?

this
I don't care that much though, it takes no money to build the game the way I am, except that it'll take money for art, and I can't get anyone to stay on long enough to even seriously discuss payment

what's an ECS user ?

Entity-Component-System. The thing you use in Unity all the time.

Anyone?

steam direct to video

So you're engine deving ?

I used to shitpost on /int/ but I wanted to gamedev and they don't know shit about gamedev.

Why do idiots here think 2D is easier than 3D?

I'd say going full photoshop was the wiser choice
Means I'll have to redo everything though

because idiots here are, well ... idiots

the idiots aren't the only ones who think 2D is easier than 3d though

Yes. Engine deving for the sake of engine deving.

wye?

Top-down combat racing game.

Still churning out combat animations.

Also, started greyboxing the second world of Dixie, "Bombshell Beach". It's 3 islands in an "endless" sea (though I did have to invisible wall bound it, unfortunately), with a substantial underwater component and (though I'm still meshing it) a giant, leaking nuclear warhead dead-center that pumps toxic spill-off into the surrounding waters.

3D gameplay is arguably harder to design, and certainly harder to program at an engine level, but 3D art/asset design is unquestionably easier, ESPECIALLY animation, at least when it comes to pixel art (which is almost universally what /agdg/ means by "2D"). So if you've got an engine that handles 3D's heavy lifting, the fastest, simplest way to make a 2D game is actually probably 2.5D design.

the eternal bane of cropping stuff
it looks horrible
also that 480p resolution isn't playing to my strengths here

next demo when

Just dont be like bokudev and have agdg be your bully that kicks you out if you need it that badly

would it kill you to have not shit textures?

A few months after the first demo, which still hasn't happened yet.

I'm mostly not doing it because I'm not currently feeling like working on the necessary QoL shit for a functional demo (implementing keybinding, scalability settings, etc)

>3D art/asset design is unquestionably easier, ESPECIALLY animation, at least when it comes to pixel art
Exactly. Hence, the best way to make 2D easier is to go the Aquaria route.

I don't know gamedevs IRL.
After meeting some nodevs just like those here saying stuff to me like "lets make a game like X" and then putting no effort to it, I gave up on searching for a partner in crime and focused on improving my programming skills and learning art.
Good thing those years of sacrifice are finally paying off and that's just the start.
Don't know if agdg is good but it makes me laugh, get inspiration and help without worrying to create a profile like those forums usually do. Ideally I would like to meet in person a lot of people here, but that won't happen anyway. So, basically, this is good when you have time to kill. Having no friends also keeping me here

so is there no free version of gamemaker anymore?

do i need to go back to unity?

stop being stingy and make a game

Really early work on swimming.

Not shown: Me getting stuck transitioning between different water volumes because I slid on a wall or floor.

>minecraft water texture on the outside
>generic underwater filter on the inside
consider a different hobby

>paying for gamemaker

is libgdx gud?

>le mister long neck talking about art design decisions
