You won't have access to t2 on fresh, pvp gear isn't good enough for anything until you're decked in r12/13 and speced sl. You're still a punchbag if you plan on playing something other than sl in pvp even with the amount of stamina t2 gives you.

t2 is extremely good for pvp, if you're demo spec you basically can't lose a 1v1 except against shamans and really good druids
it's also easy to get since it's dogshit for pve, so if you're in a decent guild you can get it for free while other locks get maybe 1 bis piece of gear
you run with a voidwalker so you get 2 shields, and with dots and your healthpool it takes years to kill you while they die
or you can go full destro and fire gear for insane bursts, but you're squishy and if fights don't go your way you're useless, especially if it's not 1v1
