Just made a hunter. What kind of pet should I get? What would be unique/interesting that isn't a rare mob?

So I am level 20 with like 60% on the exp bar and I have done most of silverpine and like 1/3rd of barrens. Now the majority of quests are green. What's the plan here? Do I finish those 2 areas or do I move on?
I heard that in vanilla you run out of quests sometimes and have to grind. Is that to be expected at some point or its just people that heavily missmanage their leveling routes?

why arent you in the guild?

I know what the questing areas and I have a rough path I will probably follow. I am asking if I should complete the green those two areas so I don't get out of quests later or am I free to move on?
