Dominions is a fantasy turn-based war game created by two dudes. One of them is a teacher. The game combines a simple presentation with an extremely wide array of strategic options, including over 3000 units, 900 spells and 400 magic items. Turns are resolved simultaneously, with players planning battles rather than directly controlling them. It has simplistic graphics but is easily moddable and extremely deep. Basically, it's an autist’s wet dream of a war game.

How do mods work with MP? If you mod your game by changing the files does it not work in multiplayer?
Ryder Powell
Can't stop weeping in lamentation over the annihilation of her empire.
Landon Thomas
You need all the players to have the same mod(s) enabled.
If you're playing over llamaserver you need to have the admin enable the mod(s) for the game too.
Angel Scott
Hold and attack is good, but units with that command will still move forward before flying units engage. You need some squads behind your commander to catch flyers, or a squad which is sufficiently large and slow that your commander won't be left behind within a turn.
Giving each commander bodyguards and grouping them all up together can also help, but brings different problems.
Nolan Thomas
why isnt there a "genghis khan" hero for barbarian kings?
Dylan Evans
Are any of you autists going to be at MAGFest next week? Dominions 5 LAN party would be fun.

Because LA T'ien Ch'i is supposed to represent the Manchus and the Qing dynasty, not the Mongols. Baka.

It really doesnt look like it desu

TC's progression through the ages is kind of a cluster fuck desu. No age of TC really represents any time period of China well

Where are the cute boys of domg?
Ayden Peterson
Ok so how exactly does "undeath" function in Dominions.
I know liches etc still have their original soul but they made themselves undead. What of the skellies and ghouls though?
Are the souls placed back into their bodies through necromancy and bound to the necromancer's will?
Or is it like in Dragon Age, were demons possesses the bodies of the dead after the souls has left the body?
Brody Powell
they are just caricatures of what a person would think of chinese history after watching some movies and reading basic chinese history. nothing wrong with that, though some work could be done on them
Jason Flores
>Thought she was face palming >Actually lamenting
Now I'm sad.
Caleb Rivera
Why didn't she cast Utterdark?
Jordan Gomez
mindless undead are just automatons who fight for their commander
Xavier Flores
Skeletons are basically D&D Skeletons, they're essentially golems with no real will. Whether or not you're even using a proper soul is up to debate, but if you are, it sure ain't intact. Guys like Lictors have intact souls, and can think on their own - Longdead can't. Ghouls aren't even properly undead, they're just infected humans. Basically zombies.
Jordan Jenkins
Cool thanks.
Brody Thompson
Representing China is a nightmare for anyone who wants to do it well, this isn't some lelelel 100000000 years of history and culture thing, it just comes with the territory of being a technically continuous culture for at least 2200 years and, depending on how you look at it up to 3500 or so, as well as the territory of being an empire. Representing Rome or Persia is a pain in the fucking ass too.
Brody Kelly
What's a good way to break into water as a nation without water access asap? Besides pretender of course.
Eli Hill
Have you ever actually tried to research Utterdark as a pop-kill nation? Their research is fucked as it is. Maybe on turn 90 or something.
Noah Fisher
You kind of have to rush it >their research is fucked as is Eh. Summoning shittons of mages is pretty decent if you find the gems for it.
Aaron Smith
Luck/Magic gets you the gems and occasionally a mage. Some thrones, some sites, depending on where you start in relation to those. Certain nations with no innate W have national heroes with that access.
Lucas Richardson

There is only grog. All the cute boys play Conquest of Elysium instead.
Michael Ramirez
Outside of luck with events and conquest summon spectre is easiest way.
Cooper Nelson
Well you need to hit enchantment 6 first. At least as Ermor-Lemuria. That's non-negotiable.
The most efficient summonable researcher for them is the revenant. Which costs 9 death gems for 10 research (I'm assuming here that they have M3). So they're paying nearly 1 death gem for every point of research at the very least. There's not a single normal nation that has that much difficulty with research.
Robert Taylor
Ench 6? What for? HoS is the big one, and that's at 5.
Michael Lee
>Ench 6? What for?

Did the inclusion of recruitment points make Sloth more viable?
With the limiting factors of some civs/provinces now being recruitment points instead of resources; you need resources less? Or did it just make growth way better?
Henry Rivera
you are still largely limited by resources too for some nations

No moreso than it was previously. Which is to say: Situationally. It's made The Order/Turmoil pick less of a no-brainer though. Used to be either ORDER 3 or TURMOIL 3 LUCK 3 with nothing in between.
Caleb Fisher
Doesn't lemuria get 2x magic bonus now? Or is that only for their national mages?
They can also turn air gems into RP, at 5 gems per 6RP.
Jaxson Jackson
It's a commander trait. So yeah, nationals only.
Noah Jenkins
>5 gems per 6RP. Trash.
Joshua Martin
Not for Lemuria. Every RP that didn't take death gems is more immortal combat mages to field.
Brody Walker
Why isn't the new turn coming?
Aiden Cook
If it's a short time, llamaserver is probably busy hosting a large game.
If it's been a while, check if the admin turned autohost off.
Gavin Green
Quickhost? Thats the only thing I see he turned off
Samuel Rodriguez
Yep, that'll be it.
It'll host when the timer expires, no sooner.
Ethan Ramirez
Better off using Lemur Acolytes. 11 gems for 13 research (again, assuming Magic 3), but they've the benefit of A) Not requiring research and B) Being sacred. If you've a caster/thug bless (and you're Lemuria. Take a caster/thug bless), then that'll help make them at least not TOTALLY worthless in battle.
That'd do it. You'll get the new turn at 1454.
Ryder Bailey
Thanks. Fucking holidayfags deserve to be shot
Caleb Hughes
It leaves them free to get their stupendously broken immortal priest-mages out in ridiculous numbers though You can't get rid of Lemurs, they just come back hale and hearty.

Asher Murphy
Anything with high resource cost will be gated harder by that than by recruitment points. Since Order/Turmoil now have the smallest effect on income, for some nations with very high prod or just very low recruitment point cost on the infantry you want, Turmoil becomes nearly free points. A particularly skewed example of this is Abysia. Standard human infantry cost 9 recruitment points. Abysia's superhuman, 20g/28res infantry cost 8. You can take Turmoil 3 and never feel it.
William Hall

R'lyeh I swear to the one true God I will remove you IRL as well as in-game if you don't take your turn or AI No. Order/Turmoil used to be the highest pure % income modifier. It's now the lowest and its primary modifier is +/- 10% rec points/level. Abysians can take -30% rec points because all their shit costs ridiculously low rec and high gold/res, so you'll never be gated by rec points.
Brody Walker
Ah got you.
Brayden Butler

How should I figure out what sort of troops to recruit when they are those nearly identical but the only difference is weapons?
Like these footmen here. Under what circumstances should I pick each one? The shield guys for anti-archer armies? Just take a mix, or pick the cheapest one and spam them?
Matthew Rogers
All the dominions elves are ubermensch, though

Did you ever actually request a turn delay/change? If not, I feel no sympathy and don't really care about catering to someone who shows such a basic lack of initiative that they assume I'll change settings to accommodate them promoting me to.
Now if you did, that's totally on me and my bad. Must've missed it if so.
Austin Thomas
The LA game is currently delayed, and I remember you posting in the thread about it.
Can't recall if you mentioned MA delay or not.
Brandon Adams
And yet they are inferior to satyrs and centaurs. Pangaeans truly are the master race.
Ryder Gomez
>The LA game is currently delayed pretty sure that was after a specific request and only for that game
Christopher Ward
You probably remember better than me.
I just remember being surprised that MA wasn't delayed. I didn't mention it because I'm not busy and getting faster turns is more than fine.
Liam Ward
What is a good use for blood slaves for a non-blood nation? I'm getting three a turn from sites and have 42 at this point. I could make someone a level 1 blood mage, but is that really the best use?
Liam Ward
>tfw your national hero that's only good for thugging gets hit by an arrow and catches a disease in his first battle
Levi Miller
Fuck Disease What kind of ridiculous disease makes people lose their fucking arms and get chest wounds and start limping and go blind but still be alive
Jose Gray
I would empower someone and get them blood hunting, since blood has some useful boosters for other paths that aren't super difficult to get towards if you have even a small amount of blood income.
Nathaniel Miller
Empowering a mage is probably the best thing to do. Or, if you truly have no use for them whatsoever, using them as shitty "bodyguards" can buy your commanders a tiny amount of time in combat.
Owen Baker
Leprosy?
Brody Morgan
Why not get a little blood magic on the side?
As others have said, even just as boosters to magic paths its fine. Also doesn't have more magic paths in general mean that the mage is stronger for being a communion/sabbath slave?
Isaiah Clark
Personally I dislike blood slaves because they're just not that useful, so I'd probably gift them to someone else in exchange for whatever, even gold really. If you've got nothing else to do with them go empower some mages and hunt for more blood slaves, there's a few passably useful rituals out there for blood, though you can get randomly horror marked by empowering Also if you Wish for women you get like 120 blood slaves, which I can only guess means it's 120 dick addicts willing to die because that's how broken-in they are
So what, everyone in this world can just spontaneously catch leprosy? Why is the Pankoman's world such a shithole
Brayden Nguyen
It also makes them research harder which is useful.
David Cox
MA wasn't delayed because, to my recollection, nobody requested for it to be delayed. I'll gladly delay it if somebody needs it delayed because I'm not going to expect 17 people to mess up their schedules to get a turn in.
At the same time, though, unless you actually tell me you want it delayed, I'm going to assume you're okay with the schedule.
Andrew Wright
>kill and drink the blood of 50 virgins >get 4 better at reasearching
Cooper Robinson
I mean it's more than what Bathory accomplished
Thomas Scott
You empower mages to do one of the following and blood hunt for more slaves (with dousing rod) while idle: 1) Crafting boosters. Blood stones for example are excellent. 2) Joining communions to cast reinvigoration 3) Unique summons (although you're extremely unlikely to grab them first if there's any real blood nations in the game also present)
Gavin Barnes
Just to make it clear, I'm both of those posts and not the same guy from
